Bright red warm cheeks????
Could it be from teething? Dereks cheeks are red and feel warm when you touch them. No fever.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
I'd say teething. DS and DD get the same thing when teething.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
Was he outside? My cheeks get like that from the cold. I guess it is similar to windburn.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
DS gets this when a fever is coming on. His cheeks were RED, tomato red when he came down with a high fever just before testing positive for RSV
with that said, he does get it from time to time when he wakes up and I think from teething also.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
DS was like that last week for a few days. It wasnt from being outside he even had it when we stayed in all day. He didnt have a fever, his forehead wasnt warm, just his cheeks. I guess it was from teething. It didnt seem to bother him and it passed in a few days. I was worried he would have it on christmas and that I would have to answer a million questions but it was gone by then.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
I hope he is getting sick. He just got over a fever. It looks like his molars may be coming in. I put aquaphor on them and they seemed to cool down a little.

Re: Bright red warm cheeks????
DS is very pale, so these are his cheeks 80% of the time.
We got to the ped on a day it happened to be this way. He said 1. its not allergy to food or soap or whatever 2. its not from windburn, or sunburn, or cold, not 100%, but some vaseline would help protect 3. Its not related to illness of any kind
He said its from teething and due to the histamines produced when they are teething.
Note that he's NOT a ped that believe fever, or diarrhea, or runny nose can be associated with teething, he said he has not seen a single study or any concrete evidence. But the reaction on the face is direct result of histamines produced. He prescribed some gentle anti-histamine cream, and said use it when its bad, but when its not just put Vaseline on his cheeks at night or when going outside in general.
I think trust your instinct if you think its something else, get them checked out. It could very well be one of the 3 reasons we were worried about.
