We brought DD to a few games before she was 18 months. She LOVED it!

How convenient is it for you to leave if need be?
We live in Chicago, walking distance from Wrigley Field. All of our friends around here bring their babies and toddlers to the Cubs games because its easy to leave when needed. Some tips - go a little late, like 2nd inning so you can enter after the crowds and leave during the 7th or 8th inning.

I think it depends how active your child is--DS cannot sit still. I think he would throw a big tantrum in a very short span of time. He really won't stay put very long at all, unless there is something interesting to look at and he can move in some fashion. At his age, I don't think a ball game would do it, unless we had seats practically on the field.
Up to you, I wouldn't bring DS yet.

ITA with all of this!! My DD would not be having fun just sitting there, she'd want to be wandering. Hopefully next year we'll take her to a game (when she turns 3)

I know *my* DD wouldn't do well in that environment. She likes to run all over the place and doesn't like to stay confined (e.g. in a stadium seat) for very long. But, if you think your DC could handle it, then go for it!

Re: bringing an 18 month old to a MLB game
thanks for all of your feedback/experiences and advice. we're still undecided. i'd like to bring him b/c i think he might enjoy it and the kids can run around the field after the game tomorrow - but he likes to walk around and can be very active at times. i feel like we'll have enough people to pass him to, but then again, i don't want to ruin their time there.
i'll let u know which way it goes

Totally agree! I know if I brought DD (19 mos), I would spend the entire game walking around with her. If you don't mind missing some/part of the game, go for it!

Re: bringing an 18 month old to a MLB game
i would bring him. i feel guilty having people babysit while I have fun I only use babysitting when I need it, or if my mil offers bc she misses them too much we go out, but thats very rare.
bring a few snacks he enjoys (Take them out like half hour apart to have "something new" to distract him and keep him sitting a bit. and worse case scenario, you walk around a bit, nothing terrible about that. I think when you look back at the photos with him there, you will wonder why you ever even questioned it. bring him !! get him all decked out in a baseball outfit ! (my hubby would agree with yours, but I would insist. ) actually one game we went to, we got tickets VERY last minute (like 2hrs before the game) and we did not bring my 20m old at the time bc it was VERY cold out that evening and he was very congested and a mess (Tired groggy). I wanted to bring him anyway but my BIL totally agreed with my husband and they convinced me to not bring him. (but my older kids came)...
sorry so long.

Re: bringing an 18 month old to a MLB game
We just brought Kaydyn to a Mets game today and she is 16 months. We ended up leaving in the 6th inning. She is VERY active and would not sit still. Luckily we bought a ticket for her so we had an extra seat and there was no one sitting in front of us b/c she was leaning all over their seats and sitting on the ground and walking all over the place.
I think it depends on the child. If you think your DC will sit or if you are willing to leave if your DC is becoming fussy.
