Bringing your own formula to hospital?
I will be delivering at NSUH Manhasset. I want DC to be fed an organic formula. Will it be possible to bring my own and have the nurses feed it to DC? I'm just worried that DC will not adjust well if we switch up the formulas.
TIA

No personal experience, but I'd definitely call and confirm with them directly.
One hand I would think why not but the more cyncial side of me can see them worried about potential liabilities of feeding with outside formula and the extra burden on their end of having to store and prepare special formula for someone.
Hoping for you my cynical side is wrong!!

Ehhh. If you want to bring your own formula in I would keep the baby in the room with you for feedings. The nurses there were great but there is no way to confirm that they gave the baby the formula they brought.
But maybe I'm just neurotic!

I'm almost certain you can bring your own formula for the baby, but I would definitely call to confirm....but why would the nurses have to feed the baby?

I would call and ask. We're in the hospital with my 6 month old and they are not allowed to prepare bottles for sanitary reasons. They use a formula company from Brooklyn who prepares individual vials of whatever specific formula you want and it gets delivered every day. They would not let us use our own powder.

a lot of hospitals these days are encouraging rooming in at night never mind feeding them a specific formula. I'd keep the baby with you if you want your dc fed specific formula

If baby is in the room with you, you can most likely give whatever formula you would like. If your baby is in the nursery, I'm pretty positive they will not be mixing your special formulas. Also, most hospitals now have rooming in so I would plan on the possibility of baby being with you during your hospital stay...
