Britax Boulevard recall question...
hi all. i was in BRU yesterday helping my friend register and i noticed that they did not have the car seat that i received at my shower 2 months ago. it is the Boulevard with side impact protection. i just went online to Britax site and it says that there were recalls on it.
now if BRU had discontinued the item will they let me return it?????
does anyone know anything about this or anything about the recall???
i'm glad they swore this was the BEST seat possible!
TIA...
eta - it does say something about when testing a child weighing more then 50 lbs??? wont they be in the booster seat by then - i am so confused

Re: Britax Boulevard recall question...
I ordered a Boulevard on-line. Still waiting. From what I've gathered, you can't use the top tether after the child is more than 50 lbs. The seats are rated to hold a child until 65 lbs.
They aren't discontinued, just recalled.

wait I got one for my shower in Nov - haven't even opened it yet...what do I need to do?
Some excerpts from the recall notice: http://www.britaxusa.net/support/recall.aspx
Britax Child Safety, Inc. has decided that certain Britax® Boulevard® child restraint systems, Model No. E9L57, manufactured between March 1, 2006 and August 1, 2006 fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213, Child Restraint Systems.
What’s Wrong During product evaluation, Britax determined that under certain circumstances the top tether hook may open or break and release from the tether anchor. This situation has only been demonstrated with the child restraint installed forward facing, using the top tether attachment, with a test dummy simulating a child weighing greater than 50 lbs.
What You Should Do All consumers are being instructed to discontinue use of the top tether once the child’s weight reaches 50 lbs.
You may continue to use the top tether assembly in the rear-facing installations for all recommended weight ranges; as well you may also continue to use the top tether assembly in forward-facing installations for children until their weight reaches 50 lbs.
Most other convertible carseats have a maximum of 50lbs as well. The marathon is advertised as having a 65lb limit. When we get ours, if it was one of the affected ones, we'll just put DD in a booster when she's 50lbs.
The recall is voluntary, and the seat is fine up until 50lbs
