Britax or Evenflo Convertable Car Seat??

So everyone I know has said Britax is the best, especially the Marathon. When DH and I looked on Consumer Reports, it actually had the lowest rating! The Evenflo Triumph was highest and the Britax Roundabout was right behind it...

DH feels that Consumer Reports knows best as they test the seats in crashes and so on... The Evenflo is also slightly more reasonably priced.

Which did you pick and why?

We went with the Britax Roundabout. We picked it because it was rated best by Baby Bargains and I've heard great reviews by other moms I know.

Hmm, that's interesting about the Marathon, that is very surprising. We have the Britax Roundabout and DD is very happy in it at 10.5 months. It was highly-rated last year when I was pregnant.

I have both the Britax Marathon and Roundabout. I like them both very much, really easy to move around. DS has been in them since 3 months, he is now 22 months.

I registered for the Roundabout because of the better rating but when I need more car seats (DH's car and Nanny's) I went with the Marathon because of the higher weight (up to 60 pounds, I think) I think the Roundabout is only up to 40 pounds. DS is 30 pounds and only 22 months old

I have 2 marathons, when i bought my first 2 years ago they weren't in last place.

I love my 2 marathons, both girls are very comfy in them, the straps are super easy to adjust and fasten/unfasten and they can hold baby up to 65 lbs, most seats don't go past 40.

I feel Consumer Reports takes $$ into consideration more than anything else. Not to say that is wrong or bad, but I feel that the lower the price for a decent item, scores higher than a great item priced much more.

That said, based on various reviews we went with the Britax Roundabout.

We registered for the Britax Roundabout because it got really solid reviews.

It won't let me post the graph and you need a password to sign in... but the Evenflo and Roundabout were rated an 81 and the Marathon only a 58. It's from ConsumerReports.com

I am logged on Consumer Reports right now. The first one on the list for Convertibles is the Britax Roundabout. The second one is the Evenflo Triumph.

I had my infant seat inspected at the police station yesterday. The cop told me when I'm ready for a convertible he highly recommends the Britax because he feels they are the safest.

I am a big fan of Britax. They are rated high in safety, and they seem to be more comfortable for the kids than any other brand.

I have an Evenflo and love it and will buy another one when the time comes.

I am a big fan of Evenflo. IMO Britax is overrated and Consumer Reports backs me up on that one. Britax is so expensive and Evenflo is just as safe and much more reasonable in price. We originally had a Britax for DD but then it got recalled (this was about 4 years ago). So rather than get a new part we decided just to return it and we did research on other car seats. We found that Evenflo got better reviews so we went with it. We love ours, we have the Titan and the Triumph. Both are very reasonably priced and very safe. Personally I would not spend the extra money on Britax.
