BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
Im still a LONG way from delivery but something sparked this question in my head so im asking it now
Did you pack those nursing tank tops to bring in hospital bag? If not, what did you use? Also, since im due in Nov, shoud i still do that since it will be cold?
Thoughts?
Thanks

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I was more inclined to bring nursing bras than tanks. However, my delivery did not go as anticipated and I was not able to feed from the breast until Abby was 5 days old and I had already been released without her. You may throw fashion by the wayside depending how you are feeling. Many hospital rooms have their own thermostats. If you have a private room, you can keep it as warm or as cool as you like. Remember also that your hormones will be running amok so you may feel its like a tropical heatwave when the room temp is 68 degrees.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I had my baby in November too! I just wore the hospital gown the first day (too much yuck and bleeding going on to wear anything *good*) and just pulled it down to nurse. On day 2 I changed into a nice button down nightgown that I just unbuttoned. I don't recall wearing a bra. If I did I suppose it would have been a nursing bra.
The hospital room always felt warm to me (with both babies). I think because of the hormone changes, your body goes through some strange feelings (hot flashes, night sweats, etc).

I brought a nursing bra with me, and button down night gowns.
I gave birth in January in the middle of an ice storm..but the heat in my room was up so high that I wanted air conditioning

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
My babies were born Dec. 30. i wore nursing bras and button down tops. Most of the time I was really warm because the nurses kept turning up the heat for the babies. If I got cold though, I put on my robe.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I actually wore the hospital gown for the first 2 days.
After that I just wore t-shirts. I was more focused on getting the nursing down than what I was wearing.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
i wore the gown the first day- since you are a mess in the begining. I also had IV's in me still so i didnt pump til day 2.
Day 2 i had a lovely shower and changed into a nursing tank with lounge pants. If you think it'll be cold bring a zipdown sweatshirt

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I didn't bother with nursing bras/tanks. I bought button down nightgowns that I ended up returning b/c I never wore. I just wore flannel bottoms and a t-shirt. When I nursed I just lifted my shirt. (I never nursed DS in front of anyone except DH and nurses)The first night I wore the gown but I delivered in the afternoon so I didn't get to a room until the evening. I was really only there one full day.
I say buy what you think you may need and keep the receipts and tags on in case you need to return things.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I wore the hospital gown or my robe with a sports bra-type of v-neck nursing bra. It was perfect for me because your door is not always closed & people can walk in & out. It was the most comfortable way for me to bf & still be slightly covered

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I brought nursing bras but didn't wear them...I stuck with the hospital gown on day 1 and then my own gowns day 2/3...it was just easier for me that way

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I did bring nursing bras and nursing tanks. I had V in February and the temp in the hospital was regulated enough for me to be comfortable when I nursed. I also brought a light robe, but that was to walk the halls with.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I gave birth in feb, and my room was a HOT BOX.. the A/c didnt work and window didnt open. I brought something to change into, but just ended up putting on nursing bra and kept gown on. Just easier.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
i gave birth at the beginning of feb-- and one room was hot as balls, another was cold. i brought tha tanks, 1 nursing bra and zip up sweats-- layering is key an easy access to the boob. don;t bring too much though-- you won;t be there that long.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I delivered in Nov and I brought a cute pj's set that had a nursing tank in them.....but I would have nursed in the gown the whole time if I had to. No big deal

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
I wore nursing tanks the whole time. I delivered in late-June, so it was warm out, but I had thin sweatshirts on over the tanks if I was cold due to the A/C too.
I LOVED the Target nursing tanks. Lived in those things for months.

Re: BTDT Moms- BFing in the hosptial clothing question
DS was born at 1:30am & less than 12 hours later I was showered & out of that hospital gown. I wore nursing bras under my PJ tops. Button down PJ tops might make things easier too.

Although things didn't go as planned and I wasn't able to BF right away, I had packed both. A nursing bra and tank.
