BTDT Moms -- TMI question for those who breast feed
Question for BFing moms. Before the baby came did you have pretty leaky boobs? If you had a good amount of leakage in the weeks leading up to your delivery, did you find you had a pretty decent supply?
For the last 3 wks, it's like my breasts have sprung a leak that needs to be fixed by the Hoover Dam. I'm kind of hoping all this leaking could be a pre-cursor to a good supply after the baby comes. Did anyone experience this and become a milk factory?

I wish for me that was true! I sprung a leak around 32 weeks but my supply was average at best. And while BF & pumping for the 7 months.....I was constantly leaking But no oversupply for me

I started leaking at 18 weeks
I have oversupply, leaking, forceful letdown - I am basically a glorified dairy farm.

I swear with all this leaking I feel like I'm not saving any for the baby. I would hate it's all for not!

I had no leaking pre birth and good supply. That's been my experience.

I never leaked and successfully BFed and pumped for my DS. I had enough of a supply that I never needed to supplement with formula. So unfortunately, I don't think it means anything.

Re: BTDT Moms -- TMI question for those who breast feed
Niagra Falls here! When i was pg with DD, after the 30 weeks mark i was leaking everywhere, at one point they squirt across the room and DH nearly died laughing....i have a feeling it will be the same with this one. I going with Lily Padz this time, i hate the smell of breastmilk with those disposable pads...
ETA: When DD came and my milk came in, i was pumping 5-6 oz per boob at a time so def no supply problems in the beginning...i looked like i had some serious breast implants too!

I never leaked when I was pregnant. I leaked like crazy for the first 7 months of BFing though, I had such an oversupply. After 7 months my supply dropped a bit.

I didn't leak beforehand.
Your supply is (mostly) dependent on how much your baby eats. I wouldn't worry about it now.

Re: BTDT Moms -- TMI question for those who breast feed
With my DD, I started leaking by like 30 weeks. When she was born, leaking doesn't cover it. It was more like a dam busting! I soaked EVERYTHING. I did have a decent supply. I breastfed for 26 months.
With my DS, I did not leak at all prior to birth. Then as soon as he popped out, a dam busted again. I slept with layers of towels & no shirt on for the first month because anything I wore would just be soaked right through. By the time he was 3 months old I think it was I had TWO GALLONS of breast milk frozen. Yep. I never really had a supply issue. i did stop really responding to my pump when he was about 10 or 11 months old, but it didn't really matter much by then. I only worked PT & he was eating solids. I nursed him for a little under 2 years.
Both times I suffered from clogged ducts pretty constantly & I had quite an issue with choking my kids in the beginning because I had such a forceful let down they couldn't even sorta keep up.
ETA: Leaking before or even right after birth doesn't mean you will/won't have a good supply. It's all about supply & demand & how much baby needs.

I started leaking around 20 weeks and once I had them my supply was very good! Let's just say the NICU nurses were calling me "Elsie" (as in the cow )

Re: BTDT Moms -- TMI question for those who breast feed
Didn't have any leakage AT ALL before I gave birth , but had a huge supply after giving birth, I mean enough for 3 kids , not just one, lol. EBF for 7 months. But my friend's boobs were leaking no stop for almost 3 weeks before she gave birth and she had a very , very low supply after she gave birth, constantly struggled trying to get more milk to come in for 3 months and finally gave up

Re: BTDT Moms -- TMI question for those who breast feed
I didn't leak once and was worried that would mean I wouldn't have a good supply. It turned out that I have an oversupply, so I'm not sure there's a connection.
