BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
I agree with many other posters that I'd like to be able to work as close to my due date as possible, but have no idea how feasible that is.
What is it REALLY like? How uncomfortable are you? Could you get around ok? Were you actually productive at work? Did you commute on the train to work?

Re: BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
I worked til my due date with #1 and then from home until I delivered (42 weeks). I felt the same at 40 weeks as I did at 37 weeks, but more swollen. I only had a 4 mile drive to work so the commute wasn't bad. My feet would get so swollen by the end of the day. Sometimes I would leave like 2 hours early to go home and put my feet up. I would take my work laptop with me. I went to 42 weeks and wasn't going crazy at the end... I think work kept me occupied!

I went into labor 1 week before my due date. I was told after 36 weeks though that I was not aloud to travel to work any longer ((it was about a 50 min. car commute each way)).
Honestly I was very thankful for that because I was swelling like nobody's business, and because he dropped so soon I was in alot of pain. But I worked with some woman who either went into labor AT work, or worked that same day, so its really different for everybody.

Re: BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
I stopped commuting 9 days before my due date (I have an hour and a half commute each day) and started working from home. I was scheduled to start working from home that week on Tuesdays and Thursdays but, it snowed on Wednesday so my boss just told me not to come back in until after my leave.
I was exhausted at that point and my ankles were really swollen from the walking part of my commute.

I worked until a few days after my due date and till the day before I delivered. I wasnt uncomfortable until the night before I delivered when my son really settled into position. Other than that I was too uncomfortable. My commute to work varied from 1 1/2 to 2 hours and I was ok with it. I think you have to wait and see how you feel when you get closer to your due date .

I was induced at 41 weeks, and worked up until that day. I drove the day before, so that wasn't a problem. I went to work like normal, then we went out to dinner for our last quiet meal as two.
Work was actually good because it kept me busy.

I could barely walk because he was SO low. I actually went to the movies everyday because all I could do was sit around (and I figured it would be a while before I got there again... I was right about that )

Re: BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
For me, the last 2-3 weeks were UNBEARABLE. I was miserable and was praying for my baby to GET OUT! Honestly, I was exhausted because I couldn't sleep anymore so I was literally up most of the night. There was no comfortable position I could find in bed so that I could sleep. I was SO tired, peeing constantly, so swollen, the baby was SO low in my pelvis I thought she would fall out so I was waddling everywhere, and I just felt tired and run down. I was thankful to be a teacher because I was done in June and my DD was born in September so I was able to be at home relaxing before she was born. Thank god I didn't have to be at work, there is NO way I could've managed it. Everyone has a different experience though but for me, the end was not fun......not at all.

Re: BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
I am due on Sunday, 5days. This is my first but I stopped working last monday (2weeks before due date). I teach middle school so as you can imagine I don't get to sit down much and it can be very stressful. I felt much better last week than this week. My biggest problem is that I have HORRIBLE insomnia, if I clock 4hrs of sleep a night that's a lot. I am uncomfortable and just can't sleep...so I am very glad I am home b/c I wouldn't be able to deal with 120 13yr olds right now

I was lucky enough to stop working Dec. 23rd with DS. He was born Jan 12. The last week b4 my csection was just uncomfortable. I was a HUGE elephant!!!! lolol I was wadlling and not sleeping well. This time around I will HAVE to work until the day b4 my csection (or if I have a vbac maybe a week or 2 b4) so I'm sure it won't be much fun!

Re: BTDT moms - What's the week before your due date REALLY like?
It wasn't too bad. My due date was on a Wednesday and I didn't have DD until Friday. I worked that whole week. It actually helped the time go by faster. I had so much to do to prepare for my leave. I didn't take the train though. I commute via car about 25 miles one way (or 45 minutes in traffic).
The whole last month is hard, but it didn't get unbearable. My feet got so swollen, DH had to help me dress and put on my shoes. The only other real change was that I had to drive DH's truck instead of my car because it was easier for me to get in and out of.
You can do it.
