btdt moms: big babies and clothing sizing....
ok so my 6 month old dd is approx 22lbs 29in. I have her in 12-18 month clothes and i bought some from old navy and the pants got much too tight eventhough they say its supposed to fit up to 27lbs so my question is I want to get clothes for her to wear for july and august from ON, should I get 2t?
please help bc my brain is hurting from looking at the size chart and trying to decide

DD was big like yours, maybe slightly smaller but not much. She was 20lbs by 6 months old, but now at 13 months she's only 25lbs...
I assumed she was going to keep growing at this insane rate so when fall came around I bought her a lot of 18 months clothes... and then all of a sudden she hit the curve in the growth chart and slowed down. She's still in 18 months now with room to spare, and I'm a little worried that she won't fit into the 24month summer clothes I bought.
I wouldn't jump up to 2T just yet. Give it another month or so before you start on summer clothes to see if her growth slows down.

Re: btdt moms: big babies and clothing sizing....
My DS is a BIG baby….he was 22lbs at5 months, 30lbs at 12 months. He has not slowed down on growth yet (he more than tripled his weight in his first year and grew about 10 inches)
Now he is nearly 15 months and he just grew out of his 18 month clothing. I think it really depends on their body style though. My friends DD has really cubby thighs so she has been in a bigger size pants to accommodate her thighs. DS is tall and pretty lean (well minus his belly) so we grow out from length more than weight. He is about 35 inches now.
Being that you have a DD and summer clothes are mostly dresses and such (more forgiving than pants if they are a little short), I would go with 18-24 month sizes and just keep all receipts. I don’t buy TOO much in advance as you never know when the next growth spurt is.

I agree with what Rebecca said. Athan started off big and I was so worried he wouldn't continue on that path but he totally "slowed down" at the 9 month mark. We have him in 18 month clothing now and even that is a lose on him. He received so much summer clothing in 24 months sizes for his birthday and I seriously doubt he will fit into them this summer. They are huge an like I said, he was slowed down and rather than packing on the pounds he is getting taller and thinning out now. I think 2T may be too big for K. Like Rebecca said, give it another month, see how much she weighs then, and then you can decide what sizes to get for later on in the summer.

I think 2T will be too big. I think 18-24m. The 2T clothes tend to get longer for a toddler body not an infant.

Ditto for me! Also - my DD has a long torso and short legs so I buy bigger tops.

My youngest son is a big baby too and is 8 mos old and already in 18 mos clothes. I haven't bought him any summer clothes yet b/c I'm not sure if his growth is going to slow down or remain the same. I would hold off if I were you.
