BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
Do you find that your diaper bag kinda replaces your handbag?
I personally do not like the look of many diaper bags out there, and feel pretty strongly about getting one that looks like a handbag-- which of course, comes with the price tag of a handbag. DH says-- get whatever you want, just don't tell me about it.
I just had a convo with my mom-- and she says, well, it's for the baby it's supposed to be x, y and z. I argued that well, the baby is not carrying it around and it should be something *I* like-- in addition to being utilitarian.
I just figured-- if I get one of the "handbag" looking ones-- that's all I'll carry. I hate being weighed down with a lot of stuff and I am also a little bit of a handbag freak.
I know-- this post was WAY too long for the subject matter.

I totally agree with you.
I plan on getting a handbag-ish diaper bag, and then a manly diaper bag for DH.
Post pics of what you end up with... I am totally undecided as of right now!

This is what I have my eye on-- I need to find it in person though. Supposedly Bloomies on 59th St has it- and I get a discount, so-- it's not TOO bad.

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
my purse is small.... and I carry my laptop bag + purse with no difficulty.
So, I have no intention to retire my little black purse when the big ol' diaper bag is used. (I'm not a BTDT mom, though!)

See, I am a BIG handbag person anyway... So, I am used to carrying huge bags with a ton of stuff-- a product of city living I guess. I can't carry TWO big bags-- it would be insane.

Randi - They have the Mia Bossi bag in person at A Pea in the Pod in SH Mall.
FYI - it is a BIG bag....and it wasn't too light either. I am considering one myself ... not this particular one because it is too big for me, but a different style by mia bossi. Def check it out in person before buying. For me this bag would be way to big to tote around as an everyday bag.
That said - you have great taste

thanks :)
I thought it might be on the big side... I like a couple of her other bags as well, but this style is just the most "me". The shape does look a little off though-- too long and chunky.
Which one are you planning on getting?

I am considering both the Alisa and the Reese, however the Reese is also very big so I am really on the fence and hesitant to purchase one at all.
Check out the website Little Dudes and Divas because they have a lot of pics of the bags attached to strollers and celebs holding the bag which give you a better idea of how big the bags really are.

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
those are the other two I like as well... I just need to see them all in person and try them on. It's a lot of money, so you need to love it in every way.

ITA .... FYI A Pea in the Pod only had a couple of bags there and Maria was one of the styles...I don't even remember which ones the others were.
Keep me posted on what you decide and if/when you see them in person! Since I am now stuck in bed I won't have the chance to see the others in person

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
I found with #1 that was all I carried and I decided this time to have a bag that looked nice here is what I got.
http://www.babykaed.com/collection/babybags.php#ShantiMain
I also ordered and got a second smaller bag for when I only have 1 of the 2 dear children and when I don't need such a big bag.
That site was great and no probs with shipping or contacting plus the bags are great in person

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
I saw some at the Kate Spade outlet. They definitely did not look like diaper bags. I might go back and buy one from them. I haven't looked at any other brands yet.

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
I have 2 kids and never found the perfect bag with #1. I have seen the Mia bags in Nordstroms and they seem very big to me even for 2 kids. I also like the look of handbag type diaper bags but they don't seem to practical when you start looking at the details. I also tried the use a big bag approach and that didn't work for me. The bottles could leak if they are not upright and their are not desginated pockets for that in a regular bag. Once you transition into sippy cups they will almost always leak. I know you said you didn't want a baby bag but JuJu Be bags are very practical and they have pictures to show you what you can hold on their website. I wish I had these bags when my kids were younger but I don't really need it anymore (I have a small one that I use for everyday trips).

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
I have this bag. It's not light - and honestly has a bit too many compartments for me (or it's just that I got a good deal more forgetful since giving birth) but it holds everything and doesn't scream diaper bag:

Re: BTDT Moms... Diaper Bags
I didn't think it would but it did.
I recently got a juju be bag. I LOVE it. I got the BeAll as the diaper bag, a BeQuick that coordinates with it and BeMine which has become my wallet/transfer bag. I got the Mint Julep pattern which is perfect for me. There are so many patterns available I may have to get at least one more.
It's an addiction.
