BTDT moms i have a few questions about tempers, pacis and winter coats.
Ok I have tons of questions. Hope you ladies won’t mind.
#1. Ds is almost 10 months and it’s become a nightmare to change his diaper and get him dressed. By the time it’s all said and done, he is usually flipping out and screaming. I always try to find something new for him to hold or to keep him occupied, but that doesn’t last long. If your DC was like this, What did you do? How long did it last?
#2 At what age did you get rid of the paci? Ds never was a fan of it until about a month ago. I think it feels good on his gums, since he is teething. So for now I am ok with him having it.
#3 Last question Since fall, winter is right around the corner. Do you bundle your DC up , then unbundle them to put them in the carseat?
TIA

Re: BTDT moms i have a few questions about tempers, pacis and winter coats.
Can't say I have much more experience. DS is 15 months
1 - I don't change him as much on the changing pad. Usually on the bed or floor. Learned to do it fast and hold him down as much as I can. Usually give him my phone if we're out or some toy. The faster the better.
2 - Can't answer this. Mason is a paci addict, but I narrowed it down to night time only. He gets a couple of paci's in the crib at night. In the morning he knows he can have it when I change his morning diaper then we drop the paci in the crib and say "see you later" He's getting good with that. It's become routine. Hopefully when we totally take it away it's not sooo bad
3 - not sure yet. I always do layers on him. Last winter he didn't wear a coat too much. Lots of layers. Only if we were outside for a while he wore a coat. Never in the carseat. He had a lot of sweaters and sweatshirts. Now that he's gonna be older this winter I'll still do layers in the car or a light coat and then when he's out he'll get his wintercoat. I'll figure it out.

Holy Cow Jill.. you must have been in my head this morning!! I was thinking about hte car seat thing.. John sweats I can't image a coat on him in the car seat.
CHANGING HIM IS A NIGHTMARE!!! DH and I both have to do it and it's impossible!! We are at our wits end.. there's only so much we can try.. Daycare says he's fine when being changed!
John has a paci for sleeping and fussiness.. not sure when we are going to give it up though.
ETA: sooo yeah.. im no help!!

The flipping himself over is the worst thing now.. I can't physically stop him from flipping. I feel like im going to break his little legs!! it's horrible!!
but Also the car seat thing with the coat.. I'll probaby get a coat and just either unbutton or just take it off in the car. Not sure yet.

#1- Sorry DD#1 did this until at least 2 if not longer. DD#2 is my easy one and she is doing it still and she just turned 15 months and is getting MORE wriggly every day. I give toys or books, or distract with tickling etc - singing - anything to distract them while I change her as quickly as I can - I've gotten pretty good at speed changing.
#2- neither girl every took to the paci so I'm sorry I can't help you there -
#3 - I got a lands end non puffy winter coat. Carseatsafety told me at the time that Lands end made non puffy jackets that didn't compress when you buckle them in - and that you CAN use a coat as long as it isn't bulky or puffy. They make squall jackets that worked well for both my girls (and they have boys ones as well). Also you can use fleece jackets too. You just want to make sure you don't use anything that is bulky or puffy.

Great tips.. Lands end doesn't have the smaller sizes tough.. fleece jacket is a good idea too.

They used to have these - but you're right I don't see them now - BUT this is basically what I had for both my girls - (but mine was from Lands End)
They go up to toddler size and they do have open feet so they can walk in it -
http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/61317?page=toddlers-trail-model-fleece-coveralls&parentCategory=6490&cat4=3160&shop_method=pp&feat=3160-sub2&np=Y
This is more like the one I had - b.c it has fold over hands and feet - so they can walk and have their hands out - or you can cover both over and not have to bother with gloves. http://www.columbia.com/Snowtop%E2%84%A2-II-Bunting-Baby/SN0180,default,pd.html
Patagonia and North Face make them too - I'm surprised that Lands end doesn't show any maybe they just don't have them out yet? In fact North Face has a jacket and pants that are actually separate so you could leave off the pants and just use the jacket
