are gliders worth it and could you have gotten by easily without one? the baby's room is small and i'm debating whether i want to stuff a glider in there.

Re: BTDT Moms, is a glider a necessity?

I never really thought I wouldn't use it, but there was a point when I only could rock her to sleep using the glider. I started a routine early on of giving her her last bottle and reading time before bed, so I use it every single day. But I am sure I could have got by without it, you just make do with what you have.Chat Icon

Worth every penny to me. I BF my first in it all the time, then we would sit at night and read stories in it. With my second, we do the same. I love it, its very comfy and I can push back and put my feet up too (we got the ottoman). Well worth the money to me. I will never get rid of it!

I used mine for every night feeding. We set ours up in our office since we were pressed for space in the nursery. It still get used but now as office furniture.

We had a small room, so we didn't get one. I wish I did though...it would give me somewhere to sit and read to DD before bed. Now...I put her in the crib and lean over the side and read a story...it hurts my back Chat Icon

Not sure, everyone is going to have a different opinion. Hailey's room is really small but we have one in there and I still use it and she is 1. I used it to breastfeed her as a newborn and read her stories and rock her in it now.

we use it EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE BIRTH and he is 6 months old now. ETA - get one with a high back, bc at 2 am you'll want somewhere to rest your head!

It was great for rocking him to sleep for about 2 months...now I don't touch it.

I got mine off of craigslist for 40.00. I got 40.00 out of it.

If you are BF definitely. That's when I used mine the most.

As far as story time, I don't and not just because there are two of them. One mommy told me that when you travel or visit others there won't always be a rocker around and to not use it as part of the bedtime routine every night or they will expect it no matter where you are. As my IL's live close, I took that advice. We have a queen sized bed in their nursery and read to them on the bed in their boppies.

If space and $$$ is an issue I'd at least wait until later and see if you still want one.

Re: BTDT Moms, is a glider a necessity?

I use it almost every night - to give E her last bottle, and read her a book. Its also very handy to have a chair in her room at other times. But you can certainly get along without one. I'd say they're a "nice to have", not a necessity.

Re: BTDT Moms, is a glider a necessity?

I never had a glider with Benji, there was no room for it. I didn't get it with Lucy either-there was room but I just didn't see the point.

So, to answer your question-no, it is not a necessity, especially if you are shot on space.

use it every night. Our nursery is really small and I am constanly moving out of the way to get to her closet but I love it. In the beginning we had it in our rooms so we could do the night feedings in our room but that quickly changed

I thought it would be really important, but you know what...I never used mine. Never. Its in the computer room now and I am thinking about what to do with it. I might sell it on...

We love ours, and use it a lot. Once we get our library built, we'll probably move it into there, since it is a nice piece of furniture, and very comfortable.
