I use mine every single day to breastfeed. I couldn't do it without it. I got mine at Target online for $199.99 including the ottoman. It's also on the smaller side so it's perfect for a small room.

I wasn't going to get one originally then changed my mind. We are so glad that we got it. We have a very small nursery and it does take up a lot of room but it was so worth it. My parents, DH and I all use it. It is great when she is fussy as we just put on some baby einstein cd's and rock her - I don't BF her in it as much as I thought I would b.c she sleeps in our room - but when she moves to the nursery (which is next door to our room) I think we will use it even more.
I have pics of my nursery in my albums if you want to go and see what it looks like. We also now have her quilt from her bedding set on the back of the glider and it really looks nice in the room.

I wouldn't say necessary but it's nice to have. I used mine a lot and still do so for me it was worth the investment.
