BTDT Moms of 2 under 18 months
I am a sahm and dh works overnights... so am starting to go into panic mode about how i am going to handle two babies that will be so close in age (ds will be 16 months on my due date)... so i am looking for some pearls of wisdom on if you were able to nurse during the day and on how to handle a 16 month old climbing on you while you are feeding a newborn..

Re: BTDT Moms of 2 under 18 months
DS and DD are 17 months apart and it's challenging! When I'm BFing DD, I make sure DS feels like he's doing something important as well. I'm always asking him to bring things for me and put things back where they belong. When I'm burping her, DS wants to be the one to pat her back. If all else fails, he'll watch a show on Nick Jr. so that I can finish up with DD. Give the older one as much attention as possible and make them feel important. Whenever I'm changing DD's diaper, I make DS in charge of bringing and holding her diaper and diaper cream

Re: BTDT Moms of 2 under 18 months
Mine are 18mos apart and DS was fine with me BFing 99% of the time...and I can't even remember him being jealous ever. I was shocked at how good he was about his new baby sister! I made sure to sit on the floor a lot while I fed her, & used the TV to my advantage to keep him occupied...I just had no other choice.
You'll be surprised, it will all work out! And actually, I find that when DH is home the day is more difficult b/c he throws off the routine!!

Re: BTDT Moms of 2 under 18 months
my girls are 14 months apart. My DH had to go back to work 2 days after DD#2 was born. He was military and working 18 hour days so I did it all on my own with no family to help.
It really wasn't bad at all I was able to nurse with no problems. My oldest DD was able to roam the house so she kept herself busy when I needed to nurse. The biggest thing i had to learn fast was that my youngest DD had to cry sometimes so I could feed/bathe/change my oldest. As long as she was fed and had a clean diaper I sometimes had to put my oldest needs ahead of the crying baby, wearing her helped me get thing done.
I LOVE having them this close and I am disappointed that we can't already have another one . Its really is fantasic to see them play together and watch them learn together

my girls are 14 months apart. I switched my oldest to a crib at 17 months old when her little sister needed the crib. She did great after about a week with the transition. The first week she did sleep in weird places (like on top of her toy shelf), until she figured out the bed was a more comfy place to sleep. My youngest actually HATED the crib so we switched her over to a twin bed at 15 months old and she did great with it at that age, way better than her sister did at 17 months old!

My DC are a little over 12 months apart. We kept my DS in a crib when my DD was born. Now my DC are 1 and 2 years old and they are both still in cribs.

Re: BTDT Moms of 2 under 18 months
My 2 are 15 months apart and I kept my oldest in a crib until he was almost 3.5 because he didn't climb out at all. He really liked his crib and I didn't want to ruin it. We actually went on vacation and he slept in a bed by himself and we came home he wanted to sleep in a bed and that is how we transitioned.
As far as when #2 came home. I also BF and I did it for 11 months and #1 had no issues when I fed the baby. I was also able to tend to him if need be while I was feeding. I don't think I could have done half of what I did if I FF. Really don't worry about the beginning it is so easy compared to having 2 toddlers

the climbing on me was what prompted my worries to begin with since ds keeps climbing all over me... though i do know the climbing is a phase, i just had me concerned
and YES we do need a support group... or a padded room...

ITA with all of this (my kids are also 18 mos apart)! (except I FF, no BF for either of my kids). I try to schedule Colin's snack time and lunch time with 2 of Reid's feedings so we're eating 'together'. We also do puzzles while I feed and read books (he turns the pages). And, like Dana, Nick Jr. is a god send when all else fails
Honestly, it is so NOT as hard as I thought it would be.
