BTDT moms of DD's - infant and jewelry question...

IL's have asked DH what to get DD for her baptism. They suggested a bracelet and asked DH what he thought. Now, this is my first girl but, I'm thinking - isn't it a waste to buy expensive jewlery for a baby? Did your DD wear jewlery often at that age and is it even safe? DD is 5 mos and I'm just thinking of how DS was around that age and I'd be afraid of her biting on the bracelet and getting beads in her mouth etc. But, I see tons of little girls with pretty bracelets on so I am wondering if maybe I am wrong....
So my question is -
Bracelet for 5 mo old or $ to go into 529 plan instead?

I only have a son, but i would never put a bracelet on an infant. I think DS would get it off and eat it.  Unless they meant like a Tiffany's bracelet or something for when she's older? I'd go for 529 $$ instead of jewelry.

DD got jewelry for her Christening and it has never been worn. I'd ask for $ to put in a 529 plan.

DD got a gold Jewish star when she was born. I will save it for when she is older. I think that a good piece of jewelery is a nice thing to receive for a special occasion. I can clearly remember wearing a locket my great grandfather gave me as a child. It holds a lot of meaning for me even though I no longer wear it.
