BTDT moms--should I bother getting a swing?

I have doubles of some stuff from my shower and have receipts so I was going to get a swing...I don't have a swing but I'm thinking maybe baby will really like it?

I do have a jumper and a stationary seat/rocker

and if I DO get a swing, will a travel swing suffice? I want to try and spare some room (poor dogs are losing so much space! Chat Icon )

Re: BTDT moms--should I bother getting a swing?

All babies are different, but for us, a swing was a lifesaver. You can use it right away unlike a jumper. DS wanted to be held 24/7. It took a few weeks, but once he started to like the swing, it gave me some time to myself.

For us, a swing and bouncer serve different purposes. DS liked the swing way before he liked the bouncer. I use the bouncer in the bathroom while I get ready. DS likes to nap in the swing, but he'll rarely fall asleep in the bouncer.

All babies are different, but my DD LOVED her swing. I would definitely recommend getting one. It will be awhile before you can use the jumper.

So will a travel swing cut it? Or do I need to get a full size swing? I kinda like the idea of a travel one for less room and able to move from room to room

I would.

I thought that we wouldn't need it, I was wrong. DS loved the side to side function of a swing.

ETA: The travel swing didn't cut it for us

DD is 1 month old and loves her swing. She naps in there and it's a great place to put her in if I need some free time. I have the Fisher Price My Little Lamb Cradle and Swing.

All babies are different, some love them, some do not.

We never had one for DS though, and somehow he (and we) survived.Chat Icon

Re: BTDT moms--should I bother getting a swing?

YES! The swings were (and still are) a life-saver.
My babies hated the travel swing. It didn't "swing" enough for them, if that make any sense.

A swing is the absolute must have on a baby list - and not the travel one! Get the regular! Chat Icon

For us, YES. DS LOVES his swing. He can sit in it for hours and be happy as a clam. I would have lost my mind many times without it! We used it from day one.
