This was my son in the beginning of the school year. I have the child who is strong minded and wants to do what he wants to do. Eventually, he will go with the flow. This is new to him and he is just testing the waters.

Re: BTDT Moms--Starting your 2-3 year old in a preschool program...
has he been exposed to any socialized group play before? DD#1 started a drop-off babysitting service at a church nursery school when she was about 16-18 months or so. since she was exposed so early i think this has helped with separation anxiety (she never experienced it), but not really with group play.
when we hit 2 and enrolled in a gymboree class she was all over the place. the teacher asked if this was her 1st time and i said yes, she replied with "totally normal, give it a few sessions". sure enough she eventually got the hang of it and started to be the loud mouth who answered all the questions.
transitioning to nursery school at 2 1/2 has been a non-issue since we went through the above already. at this age they have such short attention spans so we need to cut them some slack!
