I was definitely more comfortable after seeing the L&D room and getting the tour. It's a personal preference though. I think it can't hurt to go.

I did the hospital tour. Then wound up delivering at a completely different hospital semi-unexpectedly 
Didn't have a chance to do the hospital tour at the new hospital and didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

Ditto, just talking to a few nurses and seeing it all made it more real to DH and I. It may not have been 100% necessary, but I am glad I did it. If you think it might put you at ease go for it.
