Well, my DS is younger than your DD, but we stopped using the monitor last July. DS was 15 months old.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

DD is 28 months old and we still use the video monitor. It just gives me peace of mind, especially at night. The monitor is on my night stand and if she needs me I wake up in an instant. I fear being in a really deep sleep and not hearing her without the monitor right there.

You mean we shouldn't be using it anymore?! Sorry can't help you, DD is older than yours and I still use it. Chat Icon

My plan is to stop using it when I need it for a second child or whenever DD can look right into the camera and say "Ma stop staring at me!". Whichever comes first. Chat Icon

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

DD is 16 months and we stopped using it a few weeks ago at night. Our room is next to DD's and I hear her whenever she wakes up without it.

I still use it during her naps because I do work from the basement (my home office) and I can't hear when she wakes up.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

I only use it if I am downstairs working or something. DD's room is RIGHT across the hall otherwise.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

DD is almost two and we use it the lazy way. We leave it on the night stand and if we hear her cry at night (she is across the hall), we turn it on and see her on the video and figure whether we need to go in or not.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

Ive never really used it....

The only time I use it now is when he is napping and I want to get something done outside...

Oh...

And we use it to freak out the older kids from time to time..but that's another story.

I still use mine and dd is 2 1/2, but only when she is napping and I'm working out at home.
I don't use it at night though since our bedrooms are right next to each other.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

Paige is 2 years old and I dont plan on stopping anytime soon. I am actually expecting my 2 in 3 months and I went out a bought another one because I didnt want to give Paige's to the new baby's. I use the video one, if is was just the sound one, i would have ditched it a long time ago.

The video one comes in handy. One night Paige got up and when she gets up I usually just let her cry a little to see if she goes back but thanks to the monitor i saw that she threw up in the bed and was able to rush and get her.

I don't have video monitors only audio. I still use mine for DS and he will be 4 next month and DD is 15 months. We have a cape and they are upstairs and we are down, so I don't see myself stopping it anytime soon.

I don't have a video monitor, just an audio...DS is 24 months and I still use it. Don't plan on stopping for a while, especially with my friends now telling me their children are escaping their cribs now.Chat Icon

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

Initially we stopped when Ds was around 1, but then he had a ferbile seizure so we went back to the monitor and even bought a video one. Now DS is an expert at getting out of his room, so no need for the monitor, he walks right into our room. Chat Icon

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

I stopped using it for my son when he was about 3.5, because he is across the hall and obviously can come and get us. He has night terrors so I used it until it seemed completely unnecessary.

My DDs room is down the hall so I imagine myself using it with her until she is over 4.

Re: btdt parents....when did you stop using the monitor??

Marron will be 3 in April and I still use both (audio and video). I actually only got the video one a few months ago. I wanted to be able to see if she was trying to climb out of the crib. Now that she's in a toddler bed, I'm glad I have them both. If I hear her on the audio one (I prefer the sound on that one to the sound on the video one), I click on the video and check on her. I can also check to see if she has fallen asleep rather than playing without disturbing her. When she was still in her crib, we slept with both doors closed so there is no way we'd hear her if we didn't have the monitor. I don't see myself giving up either of them anytime soon. I suppose once I know that she will come in to us when she gets up instead of roaming the house (which she will do now), I may give up the audio monitor.

In fact, I was recently thinking that once the new baby comes, I'll have to get a monitor for his/her room as well. My nightstand is going to look like a security booth!
