BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
We started our registry yesterday, COMPLETELY overwhelming (especially since Buy Buy Baby forgot to give us our checklist booklet until we were LEAVING, super helpful
Anyway, curious if anyone has opinions on the snap & go strollers, the universal ones that work with any carseat? I also looked at the Chicco KeyFit stroller, but that apparently only works with KeyFit car seats. Since our due date is the end of October, wasn't sure if I wouldn't use it as much being that it might be cold until LO is 5-6 months old, but then again the reviews I'm reading seem to rave about these snap & go strollers for shopping excursions, so perhaps worrying about the weather is irrelevant (for outdoor walks and such)....I'd appreciate any feedback you ladies have!
Also semi related (since I was wondering if the "travel system" strollers are worth it...) did you register for 2 infant car seats (one for each car?) AND a convertible car seat (infant to toddler, like Britax). I really like the convertible ones but they seem so HUGE for infancy! OR, did you get one infant car seat and two bases? (I think some you can just move from car to car?). Sorry for all the questions, I am completely overwhelmed lol
Thanks!!

Re: BTDT- registry questions- strollers and car seats?
I cannot rave enough about the snap n go, it is so worth it!!! With our wacky weather you may be taking your LO for walks, but even to run to the store, it is so convenient.
Register for one infant seat and an extra base to put in another car. I registered for only one convertible carseat, depending on your situation you may need 2. Totally up to u.
I have no advice for travel systems, although i heard some newer ones are more lightweight. Good luck !

Re: BTDT- registry questions- strollers and car seats?
I honestly love the snap n go! I think you will use it even with a fall baby. I say register for the infant seat, one extra base (you just need an extra base because the infant seat can pop in the base in your other car), a snap n go and whatever stroller you like. I personally didn't love the travel system strollers because they are bulkier. I love my City Mini because it is easy to fold and light.
As for convertible seat, I would register for them. We registered for two and got one so we only had to buy one later on.

Great advice!!! thank you both! I just added the Safety 1st Click It universal snap & go b/c it comes w/ an extra rain hood thing.
So as far as a 2nd stroller for when LO is older, do you have any recommendations?

I have the Peg Perego Switch Four, I know a lot of mommies on here love the City Mini, I personally don't love it, but definitely check both them out.

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
I can email you my "favorite baby stuff" list if you'd like! Just message me your email addy. I made it for a friend for her registry and think it could help (it even has pics).
We had the graco snugride car seat (the one to 22 lbs) and it was great. Had the baby trend snap n go with it and loved that. Honestly, you don't need another stroller until they outgrow the infant seat (we switch DD to the convertible around 8 m). I looooove my peg perego (I have a pliko p3 I got on CL). It might be a good idea to start with the snap n go and see what features you like about a stroller before getting a $$$ one. I just got a britax b ready that you can put an infant seat and second seat on to use with two babies. It's a good option if you know you'll have another, as is the citi select. I agree about the coti mini not being for us -- DD hated how it pulled her back and she couldn't lean forward. She definitely likes sitting as upright as possible so jogging strollers aren't for us.
I'm probably getting a britax b safe infant car seat this time because it snaps on my new stroller without an adapter.
As far as convertible car seats, you might want to wait until the baby is here to get one since they expire in 5 or 6 years and you use them for at least 4 years. We have a graco myride 65 in my car (big and luxurious, with built-in cup holders -- they go on sale for $100 instead of $145 every few months so I snatched one up). We have a britax roundabout 55 in DH's car. We are both small/short people so a 55 lb weight limit will last years and years for DD. She's only 23 lbs and 31 inches at 17 m lol. She technically just outgrew her infant seat lol.
I'm happy to explain more stuff if you have more questions!

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
dont know how useful this is, but we did the stroller system with car seat, adn then we also put on the registry the convertible car seat because someone mentioned that the child may not like thecarrier.. got worried. As forthe stroller vs snap and go? i figured id be using it over the summer, then come winter/spring id want teh baby in a stroller. I didnt want a lot of high priced items so i decided to forgo the :"umbrella" stroller (the one i wanted was 500$) and then come the spring i really want my jogging stroller as well.. good luck..

I have the chicco stroller frame and the keyfit magic carseat. I love them both!
Just make sure with the universal stroller that you try it out with the carseat you're getting. I originally registered for the snap and go because it had great reviews but when I tried it, I found out you had to strap our carseat on. With our carseat, it worked but didn't actually snap in. I switched to the chicco version and it so easy to take on and off the stroller.

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
crashing to recommend the newest version of the book baby bargains. now that my DD is 11 months i can really appreciate what a godsend that book was. everything i bought on the authors' recommendations turned out to be excellent purchases!
FWIW i registered for the graco snugride car seat, the graco snug rider (which is their version of the snap and go) and the city mini stroller, which she didnt start using til 9 months or so. once she was 10 months we bought the britax marathon convertible car seat and love it so far. i was advised not to register for a convertible car seat, bc you want the newest one available (apparently these things have expiration dates). i did register for it, though, and returned it while i was still pregnant.

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
I'm not a BTDT so I don't know how helpful this is by I just wanted to say that we registered for the Chicco key fit 30 magic carseat and matching stroller because they got excellent safety ratings and great customer reviews online. The way I see it, since I'm also due in October, is we probably won't be using the stroller much before spring and by then the baby might not even fit in the infant seat so the snap n go wouldn't get much use. At least the regular stroller that the carseat fits into can be used without he carseat for children up to 50 lbs.

We did the same thing, for the same reason.

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
I have the infant carrier and 3 bases due to daycare schedules and drop off pick ups. I just bought the convertible seats to switch over and DS is 5 months and they are big so I wouldn;t put an infant in them even though you can.
Stroller - I hate the travel systems...the strollers are big and HEAVY. My parents have one in FL for us when we visit and I hate the stroller. It was so heavy to get in and out of the car. And I'm not a fan of 4 wheel strollers.
My stroller has an adapter for the car seat. I see no point in the snap and gos if you can get an adapter for your regular stroller....why buy another piece of equipment. I love my stroller (city mini).

Re: BTDT- registry questions- (snap & go) strollers and car seats?
I went with a relatively lightweight travel system. The Graco Metrolite.
I LOVE it, I used it for everything, walks, quick trips into stores, the mall, etc. It has the snack tray, cup holders, basket underneath, etc. I didn't want 4 different things. I never had a snap and go and never missed it. I had an extra base, but only used the infant car seat that came with the metrolite and then around 7 months moved DC into the britax marathon convertible seat rear facing. It was huge rear facing but I loved it and it's hed up awesome now almost 4 years later.

The snap n go is great. You will gets lots of use out of it.
Don't know about travel systems first hand but personally you don't need a huge travel system. A snap n go with an infant car seat is a must for the beginning. You can register for a stroller like the Baby Jogger City Mini which gets rave reviews. If you want to forgo the snap n go the City Mini also has an adapter where you can add the car seat the stroller although the adapter costs just as much as the snap n go so if space is NOT an issue I would just go for the snap n go and the City Mini.
Infant car seats you only need one. You can register for extra bases and yes you can register for a convertible cars eat so once the baby outgrows the infant car seat you have the second car seat. Keep in mind that most infant car seats last most infants until 10-12 months and all car seats have expiration dates so by the time you open up your convertible car seat almost a year would have passed and that gives you once less year of use. Just food for thought.
Also if you haven't done so get Baby Bargains. It was a life saver for me and I just recommended it to a coworker who loved it and used it as a guide to registering.
