BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
I'm 5 months pregnant and the registry planning has started.
Can you share what convertible car seat you have and why?
I've read Baby Bargains and it recommends a few models, but I wanted to see what BTDT moms use.
TIA!

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
We just bought the Britax marathon 70. Great reviews, safe and super sturdy. Ds has room to grow into it, he is higher up then his old one. He loves it.

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
Charlie rides around in the Britax Roundabout. Not sure if there are newer models/versions as hers is 2 years old...but the seat is great.

For small car... Britax Roundabout. For bigger car or SUV... Graco MyRide65.
ETA: we have and love both.

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
I have a Britax Decathlon (same as Marathon but with a "******" setting adjustment for the loop belt).
Def. would recommend it. Goes to 65Lbs. I was looking at other carseat but DS was a taller/bigger baby and I did not want to keep buying carseats to fit him.
Are you getting an infant carseat first?

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
I'm a Britax Mom here.
My older son has a Marathon My younger son has the Roundabout 50
The Marathon goes up to 65 lbs so once my older son is out of that my younger son can go into it.

Ditto! We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and had originally registered for the Britax Marathon but it was too big for our car. So be careful....mb see if a friend can let you borrow their carseat for measuring purposes that's what we did.

We have 2 Britax Marathons and we are very happy with them. We got one for each car since we both drive with Liam pretty equally.

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
we have a marathon and i just got a marathon 70 for DD2. i love that seat! we have a minivan so it fits easily, but when DD1 was little, the rear facing marathon in my passat made it hard for the front passanger not to have his/her knees in the dashboard.

Re: BTDT Moms re: Convertible Car Seats
Recaro! LOVE my recaro its comfy and strudy super safe and I love that its made by a manufacturer of race car seats. I like the reputation and the quality. I felt Britax is over commercialized. Decent but not the only option. Recaro is NOT cheap but I got it on sale from Woot for $99 new with $5 shipping so I had to get it! Now that I have it.. I would definately say its worth its original price!

That's what we did first. Then we got a Britax. I love DS' carseat. He still uses it at almost 3.5 yo. It looks in perfect condition. No tear. Really happy with it.

Same here!!!!!!!!!!
We had the Graco comfortsport in both our cars at first. The straps were a pain in my a$$ from the beginning, but DH didn't seem to mind. We figured it was because of my medical problems after birth. I finally gave up and got the Evenflo triumph AND LOVE IT!!!!! DH fell in love with it too and ended up getting it about 6 months later.
You are welcome to try out either one when the time comes. We kept one comfortsport, in case of emergency, and put it in the attic. The other we donated. By the time you need it, we will probably be moving on from the triiumph, so you can try that one out too. Actually, I can show you the triumph on Sunday if you want to see the difference. LOVE IT!
BTW: Both of these carseats were highly recommended in safety and price, especially for smaller cars. Britax was not recommended for our cars. There is some website out there that tells you what seats actually fit into what car. Can't remember what it was though. Now I'm rambling!

For those of you who have the Evenflo Triumph - which model do you have?
The LX, DLX or Premier?

I found the website (mentioned in Baby Bargains) - carseatdata.org
