BTDT-Toddler bed transition-Need help/advice on NAPS!!
We started with the toddler bed last night for my 27 month old, i only had to put her back in 3 times and she was out for the night. Fell out of bed once, and then went right back.
Now NAPTIME is a miserable failure. I went in there 1/2 dozen times over 45 mins, and she won't sleep or stay in there. AND since she shares a room with her sister, she managed to wake her up too who needs a good 1.5 hour nap in the am to function.
Any tips for naptime? Any suggestions for the transition?
Thank you so much
Their am naptime is mommy time, and mommy needs and loves that 1 hour of complete silence for her own sanity

I have zero tips. But Andrew will not nap in his bed. I have no idea why.
I had to go and buy a pack n play (my SIL has my other one for her house) and he will nap in that. I am just going to deal with it this way.

But he'll nap in the PNP but not the bed? She just won't settle down.
Thank you for responding though, at least i know i'm not alone!!!
Anyone else get their toddler to take naps in their toddler bed??

Yup he naps in there. So strange. I put him in there and put on the TV and get him some milk. Then when he has gone off to sleep, I turn the TV off.
I have been getting at least 2 1/2 hrs this way out of him.
Good Luck

Re: BTDT-Toddler bed transition-Need help/advice on NAPS!!
I just did the transition w/ my 23 month olds. The first week was rough - waking early is still an issue. It took a while to work on the naps. I made sure that there was nothing appealing for them to sneak out for... books, toys, etc were put away and the door remained closed. Even if they get out of bed, they still don't leave their room. We've always used music at nap and bedtime so that remained the same. THe first few days they didn't take naps well but I kept them in there for at least 30-45 minutes, even if they weren't sleeping. If they were talking or making noise, I still left them in there and after that period of time, if they still weren't sleeping, they came out. After a few days, they were exhausted and have napped willingly ever since. HTH!
Be patient and realize that it'll take some time - try not to be disheartened.

Black out curtains! They are a must for nap time for a toddler who can move about freely. My DS's room is very sunny at his naptime but the curtains work wonders. They sell liners for regular curtains if you already have a pair you love. Or even a pull down roller shade would be good.

Ever since we took her paci away for naps, Alex refuses to nap in her bed. So we have a new ritual - I put on her favorite movie in the living room and she naps on the couch.

I soooo didn't plan on doing this until she was like 5..no just kidding..but i always said we'd do it when she climbed out of her crib for her own safety.
Well for the last 2 days she's been climbing out of her crib and into her sisters. Not good!

I would do it if it came down to that as well... the other night I went to check on Syd and she just looked so HUGE in the crib, like she barely fits anymore
I'm sure your DD will start napping for you soon, stick your guns and keep her in her room and hopefully it will work out for you
