Budget Failures....
According to News 12, the following districts did NOT pass their budgets:
East Rockaway
Port Jefferson
West Babylon
Wyandanch
Garden City
Elwood
West Hempstead
Levittown
Westbury
I'm still missing one district not sure which one.
My district passed! Maybe now they'll unexcess me LOL.
ETA: I'm seriously getting annoyed with News12. Roslyn was NOT the only district to do teacher freeze. My district was one of them, and all they do is mention it at the end in passing.

I'm so upset about Levittown. I know so many are upset about any tax increase, but I really do think it's an injustice for our kids. I hope we get a chance to re-vote. My dh and I are both city teachers and are amazed at how so many people take the amazing things we get out here in Long Island for granted. With three children in the school system, I would never think of voting a budget down. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Add West Hempstead to the list...
I'm so annoyed at the "rumors" around. WH has a high tax levy and increase but not because of negligence. They had reduced state aid (like everyone else) and reduced income from Island Park (kids are bussed from there but now have a choice). They have been fiscally responsible (0% increases over the past two years!) and the budget was overwhelmingly rejected. So sad for the kids and teachers. Big cuts to come

WOW one vote????? Can you imagine the guilt some people in that district must feel for not voting? I REALLY did not want to go vote in my district, just because it was raining, and I'm sure others felt the same way. (I did go though)

Actually I will now use Herricks as a realyl good social studies less on that every vote really does count!
