Bus stop change? updated below
Has anyone ever been successful getting a bus stop changed in their district? For what reason?
I've written a letter to the person in the school district in charge of the transportation, however they sent me a form letter back saying no. I'd like to keep pushing the issue because they didn't give me a reason-just that they can't approve all requests. 
Any suggestions?

Bus stop change?
I haven't officially had it changed, but every year when our bus assignment comes in the mail, our stopis listed around the block. It's really inconvenient and the bus goes down our street anyway. So, I simply ask the bus driver every year to add a stop on our street (conveniently in front of our house). My dd is 13 and my ds 10 and I've not had a bus driver say no. They are usually pretty accomodating. Could you try that?

I asked the bus driver and he said he would have no problem doing so. However, if someone from the bus company followed him and saw him stopping at a different location he could be fired. So he asked me to contact the school to let them know.
I did so and they just said basically 'we can't approve all requests.' in a form a letter.
My issue is that we are on a big loop and there is a bus stop on all four corners-which I understand. However, on all the other corners, the children live across the street from their stop. I'm in the middle of the block and have to walk my kindergartner, a 3 year old and a newborn to the bus stop down the block. My child is the only one at his stop and the bus must pass my house to get to the next stop. I cannot leave my two other children in the house because I am down the street from them, and when it gets colder out, now I'm bringing a baby out to wait in the cold.
I understand that they can't make everyone happy, but really, it's not affecting anyone else, only us-especially if the bus driver would do it.

I'm surprised they would be fired over it. I called transportation once about it, in the beginning, because we are also the only one at the stop. They were the ones who told me to ask the bus driver. They said it was a real hassle to change the stop officially, and that it was easier to just ask the driver.
That stinks though. Bringing little kids out in the freezing cold is no fun. Can you talk to a manager at the transportation company?

My next door neighbors know the owner of the transportation company personally. They are going to try to talk to him and see if he'll approve it.
Maybe that is the issue-the school district doesn't want to make an official change, but the bus company can make the change with the approval of the bus company. We'll see.

We had an issue last year where we (the parents) felt our bus stop location was unsafe (blind corner with no stop signs) so we asked the bus driver (who I knew from the previous year and the other parents knew from years prior) if we could move the stop down the street 100 feet in front of my home (not my idea/recommendation, but being that I had a 2 & 4 yo, I wasn't about to argue.  ) He had no problem with it. Apparently "someone" else at the following stop did.  That "someone" else called transportation and filed a complaint. The bus driver apologized to us and told us he wasn't allowed to stop there anymore and that his job was on the line. (The kicker is we know who called it in and their child doesn't even belong on our route. The parents drive her to this bus stop every day and pick her up every day. )
This year I'm in a similar situation as you OP. I have a 3 yo and I'm expecting in December. My DH spoke with the bus driver about stopping at our driveway which is along the way and being that my DC is the only one at the stop, it shouldn't inconvenience any other parents. The bus driver told me that I needed to contact transportation (I figured as much) because she could be fired for stopping at unauthorized locations.
I called today, but was told to send an email stating my request. Guess I'll find out in due time.

I got ours changed last year rather easily (emailed transportation with request and it was accepted within 2 days). The bus drives right past our house, so they just added the stop to the route. I was amazed at how easy it was, actually. Sorry you are having a harder time!

On any given day there are 10-15 kids at the bus stop. We all stand across the street from my house. Technically the stop is about 2 houses down from my house, but the kids have been standing in front of my house for at least 8 years and my son is only in 1st grade so I am personally thrilled that it was "moved" by the kids. It was not officially moved.

I just found the email - this is it exactly (well, with a few X's ):
Dear Ms. Sxxxx,
My daughter, Xxxxx Xxxxx, is in Kindergarten at Sxxxx elementary school. She rides bus XX and is assigned to the stop of Bxxxx St and Rxxxxxx Rd. The bus drives right by our house everyday. Since I recently gave birth and now have a newborn at home, I was hoping you could add a stop at the corner of Bxxxx St and Gxxxxx Place. In addition to helping out our family, there are at least 2 other children who live across the street who would utilize this stop. I would be so grateful if you were able to make this change.

I didn't give a reason, I just told them I wanted to change bus stops (same bus route) and they changed it.

I called again today and the woman said again that they can't help me. That not even people in wheelchairs are being given pick ups at their house and are forced to go to the end of the block. I asked her if she was proud of that.
I want to SCREAM!!!!
I don't get why it would be so difficult!!!!
