buying a new car if you still have a loan on another car?
I got my current car, a Jeep Compass, in 2014 and have another 2-3 years of payments left on the car. However, now that I have the baby, I am realizing that I would be better off with the Cherokee or Grand Cherokee. I would be willing to buy a used one off the lot, but wasn't sure how it works if I still have a loan on my current car. Would they allow me to trade mine in, move the loan over to a new car, and I'll just pay the difference?

Yes, they'll roll the negative equity into the new payment

We owed 16k on a car we traded in and the dealership gave us 13k so we put down the difference so we are paying what we would have paid if we didn't have a trade in and had put $0 down.
