buying kitchen countertops

Ok....yes I have another question...please don't hate me...LOL

If you have purchased granite from Home Depot or Consumers Kitchens and Baths did you have to buy 25 sq ft or could you buy less if you only had 20sq ft of countertop?

Thanks!

Re: buying kitchen countertops

what happens if you buy from a place that sells granite? Not a big store like HD or Lowes?

Great thinking!......That is something that we are looking into also. Since we don't have a lot of countertop I heard that sometimes granite places have scraps that they are just going to throw away. They give it to you for free and just charge you to cut the whole for the sink.....

So we are looking into other options....

Re: buying kitchen countertops

We bought our granite countertop from Stone Pro in Bohemia - 631-750-2699.

They had a large slab and I was just looking for a small seat for the shower originally. They were willing to sell me a small piece that was only 14 x 30 inches cut from the large slab. I asked about the countertop (24" x 84" - 14 sq. feet) and they gave me a good price on both. They are fast too - the two shower seats I've done with them were done in a couple of days. The counter was about a week from measureing to installation. Every other place I spoke to said it would be 3 - 4 weeks.
