buying or selling items on craigslist

If you buy or sell items on craigslist, where do you meet the other party. DO you make it a general location (Store, school,) or do you go to or have the person come to your house? I don't feel to comfortable with people coming into my home. But what do you do when selling large items. TIA

DH and I sold our 5 air conditioners and we met with the other party at Roosevelt Field parking lot.
There's been times when we've sold other things too, but I have never gone alone. Make sure someone else is with you.

I have had the come to my home and if I am buying I go to there home. I allsway talk with them on the phone 1st

I have only sold furniture so far, so they had to come to my home....Dealing with some of the people on there ( no shows, e-mails with no follow up's etc) can be a real PIA I've come to learn....If you do sell something , whether your home or at a meeting location, don't go alone

Usually the mall parking lot, or a movie theater parking lot. Someplace very populated and I never go alone.

I haven't bought anything off craigslist recently but when I was in school in boston, I used craigslist all the time. I'd have people come to my apt or I'd go to theirs. It was usually when I was moving though.

I've sold a ton of baby stuff on craigslist..I always always meet them in a public place..Outside a major store or in a mall in a busy place.

Also make sure you say your non negotiable on price or people will haggle you in person and make sure before you meet anyone you confirm they are serious. Make sure you post real pics so you don't get window shoppers.

I take no more crap on craigslist and i get better serious emails from people and not the ones that waste my time.

I have purchased on craiglists and both times went to the persons house.

We just bought a toy chest from craigslist last night, and went to the seller's home. I wouldn't have gone alone, but DH was with me. No problems, and it was just as in the pics.

My DH has sold things on Craigs list and he never has anyone come to the house. He always meets the person somewhere 1/2 way or someplace local to our house.

(I would never go alone ~ always bring someone)

If I go to someone's house, I go with DH, never alone.

If we sell, they come to my home and DH deals with them OUTSIDE our house.

We don't do craigslist very much.

I just recently tried to sell 2 air conditioners that I had in my old apartment that I can't use where I'm living now. I was real hesitant about selling them on Craigslist because of all the stories you hear. Anywho, the day after I put the ad on Craigslist, I got a response. I was very excited that I was finally going to be able to unload the 2 PITAS. Turns out the guy was scamming me by trying to send me a money order that was over the amount he was paying for. He wanted me to cash the money order at the bank, take out my money then Western Union the remaining money. When I saw this, I checked out about the scams section on the website and sure enough, that's how I found out.

I am so turned off with Craigslist. And to boot, I'm still stuck with these air conditioners

I have done both, sell and buy. I had one person come to my house to pick up, but I made sure my DH was home. Everything else, my DH did the pick ups for me and they were mostly in parking lots of stores.
