Re: C-section

I had a C-Section too and had a great experience. My hands were not tied down and DH sat by my head and talked to me the whole time. He got to hold the baby first and he brought him over to me so that I could give him a kiss. Once in recovery though, I did get cold so they did put a warming blanket on him for a little while until I felt warmer. I was up and walking around slowly the next morning. Then I was able to hold the baby and after that it just took time to fully recuperate.

Re: C-section

they gave me the epidural med and laid me on a flat bed with my arms stretched out to the sides. before the incision, they had me take a pill. it's to reduce vomitting. hub sat by my head. he couldn't see anything below me. once the epi set in that's when my doc did her thing. i had no idea because i felt absolutely nada! shortly after i heard my baby's cries. i couldn't hold him, nor could my husband. not sure why. we couldn't even take photos. don't know why. all in all, it took approx 45min. it seem quicker than that. this procedure was a breeze. it was the recovery that took forever. jsut take your pain meds Chat Icon

Re: C-section

I had one because Jordana was breach also. It was really a pretty good experience.

I got to the hospital at 7 for my 9:00 appointment I knew what was happening. I got the IV in my hand (which I was so scared about) but it was no big deal. Then I went into the OR and the gave me the epidural. I asked the nurse to talk to me while it was happening because I was so scared- and I didn't even realize it was done until they told me.

The experience itself was OK. I was awake, and not tied down (which I heard I might be). They let me keep on my contacts. You don't feel "nothing" which is what I expected. I felt pulling and tugging. It was weird and uncomfortable, but not painful. For one second I felt a sharp pain and told the anesthesiologist and the next second the pain was gone. At 9:31 my daughter was born! Chat Icon Chat Icon I was able to hold her as they wheeled me out. While they stiched me back up I was taking pictures of her. It was so amazing.

The recovery isn't too bad either. I think I was in less pain than the woman in the bed next to me who delivered vaginally. For the first 24 hours I couldn't get out of bed because I was hooked up to this machine that circulates the blood flow in my legs. Then I had a catheter on, but by the second day, the catheter was gone and I was able to walk around. I walked around the maternity ward the second I was allowed to. I would just give myself an extra dose of pain medicine. I think that really helped my recovery. After that I would keep walking every few hours.

When I got home, I started walking the baby a mile every day. The first few days it was the longest mile ever, but it was walking. Within a week I was totally off pain meds.

If you have any questions, please feel free to FM me!!

Re: C-section

Shelly - you walked a mile a day when you got home? You are my hero!! Seriously - just walking around the block for me for the first three weeks kicked my azz. I would be in so much pain around my incision. It's amazing how everyone handles it differently.

Re: C-section

I had to have a c-section w/ ds #3 after 15hrs of labor due to his heart rate was dropping. I already had the epidural so they just had to change it. Wasn't bad. During the cause of the c-section my dr and I were talking about everything as he was cutting me open. There is a bad smell when they are cutting you but No pain. You feel alot of pulling and before you know it your baby is out. Then I was given something to put me out while they stiched me up. When I woke up I was in alot of pain but the nurse is right next to you getting ready to give you meds to make you feel better. Which it did. I took a shower the same day, didn't walk around to the next day (it was late) but my personal opinion I went regular w/ my past 2 and if I could do it all over again I would of chose c-section w/ all. ( I didn't have very good deliveries). Just remember to get up and walk around b/c if you get gas thats when you will have pain but I'm sure you will be just fine. Good Luck w/ everything.
