cake vs cupcake for 1st birthday...
which is better for the kids do you think? the ages are 9 months-10 years. should i make one big cake or individual cupcakes???
also do you think choc or vanilla icing is better? should i do a mix? i was thinking of using the funfetti ones
ETA: this is for the "kids party" the family party at home i will be making a cake...im not sure what to do for the kids party

I did both, king size cupcakes and a cake. I'm not a fan of chocolate frosting, too messy (but I have an issue with mess).

i actually bought vanilla but DH is saying alot of the kids like chocolate better...to bad i guess

I made a #1 shaped cake for the adults and then cupcakes for the kids.
I did choc cake/vanilla icing and yellow cake/choc icing

I think cupcakes would be easier for everyone in the long run .........-
No cutting, no forks, no extra mess - No "I want the flower" fight

I did a tiered fondant cake and my DS got the whole top tier...

I would do both. Kids looove cupcakes. I would also have them in both flavors so kids can pick which they like better.

Didn't you MAKE that cake?? I remember someone posting pics of a homemade tiered fondant cake and I was like   - and feeling extra pathetic about my culinary skills !!
I think you should do cupcakes -chocolate and vanilla and maybe a fun colored frosting? (I'd probably keep the frosting one color to aviod the "i want pink/blue/green fights' - same as the "i want the flower fight')
