called police.....
DH and I were at The StonyBrook University Dental Clinic with my son. We pulled into the parking lot, and DH saw something move in the car, and asked me to look. Well, there was a car seat in the back of a mini-van with a fleece blanket over it and it was moving. The windows were all closed and no know was in the van. We reported it to the police. They came down 15 minutes later, but the car was gone. I took a pic of license and they found the car off campus. We had to go down and make a statement. They found her . It was a young girl in her twenties, and there was a baby in the car. She had no prior record, so she has this now on her record and being hit with a violation and big fine.
I HATE PEOPLE!!!!!!!

I agree. I dont know how long she was there. I told police you can probably find out what time she checked in at the clinic.

people are dumb. also, I'm alarmed that the police took 15 minutes to get there. The baby could have died in that amount of time with a blanket over it.

Good for you for calling! SO many people would just look the other way! I saw that Walmart now has a sign at their entrances reminding the customers not to leave children in the car.

I dont understand how people do this  .. i was at walmart that weekend it was 90+ degrees out, and i saw a 2 yr old in the car next to me looking soo sick.. called the police, wait for them, and go shopping, i heard an announcement for the woman to go to the car.. i finish my huge shopping trip, guess who is still nowhere to be found? The mom still never bothered to go out.. i just really hate people..

I went to TJ Maxx a couple of weeks ago and as I got out of my car I heard Mama Mama, I looked in the car next to me and there was a toddler in the car, crying, visibly upset. I talked to her through the window and told her shhh its ok your Mama will be right back and she actually calmed down. I then saw another Mom getting into a car a few cars over so I said-theres a baby in this car. I'm not sure what to do. We talked it over and agreed we'd wait a few minutes. the Mother came out saw us watching and walked past her car, then circled back around to get in. we didnt even have a chance to talk to her.

We just had a local woman be arrested for leaving her 2 kids in the car last Friday (the HOT day) at a supermarket!

Thank God you saw and called. I can't think about what could have happened.
Too bad it's just a fine though, she should be arrested!!
On an aside, 15 minutes for the police to get there....way too long.

I saw this on the news the other night and was so mad!! I was glad they told the story though, you usually only hear about it when it has a tragic ending.

I think what saddens me most is that the way you described it, it doesnt sound accidental (which is also horrific) but it sounds like the mom knew exactly what she was doing.
That should be like child endangerment and they should get arrested.

The fact that they even have to put a sign up telling people not to do this, is absolutely sickening
