Re: called police.....
I am just appalled that others are chiming in saying they have seen this too. Like it's a common occurance! What the fluck is WRONG with people? Jesus. You should have to pass a common sense test to have kids! The other day when it was hot out- Sunday- DH got out to pump gas and me and DD were in the car for about 5 minutes- in that 5 mintues it got SOOOO hot that I had to open all the doors. She was whimpering and I was starting to sweat and feel sick. And that was 5 minutes. How do you leave your baby alone in the car? Even leaving the heat out of it- anyone can come by and harm them! I am sorry- I just don't get it!

Re: called police.....
When I saw this kind of "scenario" on What Would You Do last year, I thought, WHO would do that? I mean, HOW could anyone do that - especially considering the heat and the fact that babies can die from being in a hot car. I just don't understand it!!!

called police.....
I'm pretty sure I would have broken the window. People are sick.
If it was an honest mistake and I found out someone broken car window, i would be grateful.
I can't stand kids being put in harms way.

called police.....
You did the right thing for sure!
We saw 2 kids asleep in a car in Kmart in Babylon and called the police. I guess they didn't care because they didn't even bother to show up. Unreal.

Re: called police.....
OMG thank goodness you were there. Unfortunately people who do these types of things are really dumb and reckless. How many times I've seen this type of behavior on the news. It scares me to think what these kids go though.

Re: called police.....
when i worked in retail people would park in the fire lane, come rushing in and say "I have to hurry my kids are in the car" I used to get SO ANNOYED and that was BEFORE i became a parent. I just thought to myself "oh, so *I* should rush and hurry because YOU parked in the fire lane and left your kids in the car? WTF?" happened often. I never called cops on them bc i could see the car from the cash wrap and knew that it was older kids with the AC on...but still...
One time when my sis and I were kids, my mom double parked outside our house in queens. My older sis was asleep in the backseat, i was awake in the backseat. My mom just ran in to get something, she told us she was coming right back out. Well curious monkey that i am, climbed up front, went and took the car out of park and put it in reverse. We lived on a hill. We went rolling down the hill ACROSS AN INTERSECTION. Imagine the look on my moms face when she came out looking for her car? By the grace of god we didn't hit anything and nothing hit us. That was a lesson learned for my mom. She never did it again.

called police.....
I still can't believe it took the cops (campus or SCPD) 15 whole minutes to get there! That's shameful in and of itself!

Good for you for calling! SO many people would just look the other way! I saw that Walmart now has a sign at their entrances reminding the customers not to leave children in the car.
The fact that they even have to put a sign up telling people not to do this, is absolutely sickening
Yes, this is a sad comment on our civilization... wait, with this going on I withdraw the term civilization... this is Barbaric in 2013. EVERYONE should know better.
Diane, there was a reason why you were there... karma, an angel, God, a miracle, seredipity... whatever... that little life was saved by you and your DH

No, I did not see her. They were doing construction in the clinic, so there were tarps draped over the windows. We kept checking when I was filling out paperwork, we had to keep walking all the way around with my son. The last time we checked the car was gone.

Re: called police.....
When I saw it last night they were saying that they arrested her on the spot. Which we all know is not true. Guess that little tid bit of the cops taking 15 ***** minutes to get there and NOT using your photo of her license plate was a convenient omission.

They did say it was on StonyBrook Campus? I have to email the pic of the license to the cop.

It was a 30 second news clip. All I caught was toddler left in car at Stony Brook dental. Mother arrested.

See, they already got it wrong. It was an INFANT, not a toddler, BIG difference to me...right?
