Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
DS will only nap with me laying next to him in our bed. He just turned 7 months.
My resolution to myself this year was when we got back from FL to get him to nap in his crib.
The ped says he is definitely old enough for CIO. I personally am not ready for CIO at night. But is it possible to do it for naps? How long do I let him cry? I know at night it is as long as it takes. But is it the same for naps?
His first nap is usually 10:30-11am.
Please....I'm BEGGING.....give me any and all advice!

Re: Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
We did CIO with my DS at 6 months and it worked pretty quickly. I think the most that my DS cried was maybe 20 minutes and then he took a really good LONG nap. . Now he'll cry for a few minutes tops and it's inbetween playing with his aquarium so I know he's just ****** off.
Our pediatrician said the sooner the easier and I agree with him because with my DD we did CIO at 10 months and it was a nightmare!
I know that CIO is not for everyone, so that's a personal choice but just do know that no matter what they ALWAYS wake up with a smile on their face and hold no grudges!

Re: Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
We did CIO for naps around the 1 year mark.
I couldn't take it anymore...she would ONLY nap on me 2x a day I used to call it "trapped in napland"...I did CIO.
I had to. I got so fed up one day I said that's it....cry! She cried for about 10 minutes and she went out.
It's hard to do....but you *can* do it if you want. But the key is consistency.

Re: Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
With naps, I let him cry for 10 or 15 minutes, max. If he is still crying hard (not just a whimper) I will go in and get him. We play, maybe I give him a snack or some milk and then try again in 30 minutes or an hour. Usually, he will go down the second time if he is tired enough to nap.
That is what worked for me.

Re: Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
Okay according to all the books, for naptime... you let them cry for up to an hour. After that time, you go get them and you try again for their next normal nap time. You don't want them to cry longer than that because it will then throw off their next nap and your routine.
We did CIO for naps and ds cried for 40 minutes before falling asleep. It was hard, but now naps are so easy! We put him down, turn on his aquarium, his sound machine and he goes to sleep without making a sound.

Re: Calling ALL advice!!!!!!!!! Please help me!!!!
DS was like this too. I was a big fan of CIO but not for naps, only for nighttime. Do you rock him and then put him down? Thats what I did. And when he woke back up, I would do it again but I didnt go in there for 10 minutes at a time. By the 3rd "round" he was so tired, he would pass out and nap. After a week or so, he was just used to napping in his crib. Good luck!
