how are you going to manage putting anything INTO the yogurt or cheese? do you really think the thief is going to steal an opened container?
i think your best option is to put the spoiled yogurt there. hopefully they'll learn a lesson

i agree with others that if you put anything in the yogurt, you'll have to open it, and it'll be obvious that it was opened.
i totally think the idea of leaving one out of the fridge at your house for a couple days to let it spoil, and then putting it in your bag would work great- once they open it and smell it, they won't come back for seconds! LOL

We can do it at The Scene on Motor Pkwy in Commack. My original post got moved to FHF (???) but I'll start another one. Cafe Royal isn't all its cracked up to be. I like the scene :)
I'll have to find a few days that could be good for everyone. I'm excited!! I can't wait lol

Seriously, nobody would feel guilty if the person got REALLY sick from eating spoiled yogurt or cheese? I know it's really rude and annoying and I guess I can see why they'd have it coming, but I'd feel awful if they got food poisoning.

I wouldn't feel awful at all. I think a little food posioning is just the thing to put a stop to the theft. If you don't know what you are eating(ie its someone else's food) then you are taking a risk. Plus, I doubt they would actually eat it after they smelled it- it would be pretty rank once you opened it up.

If they got sick & had to have an organ removed, yes.
If they were sick & had to stay in the bathroom for a day, no.
I'm not intentionally making someone sick. I'm bringing in spoiled food & putting it in the refrigerator in my lunch bag.

Leaving the yogurt/cheese out for a day or two, now THAT idea I like!
How would that person know that you put laxatives in it. They could have gotten diarrhea from anything...maybe even the stomach bug!!!

This happened to my husband a few times.
He typed up a note and put it on the refrigerator that said "HEY THEIF - I LICKED MY SANDWICH!"
He never had a problem again - and neither did anyone else.
Maybe you could say - "HEY THEIF - I LICKED MY SPOON!"

my thought really was that they would SMELL it before eating it.
and even if they did take a bite...I don't think they'd get through that let alone the whole container, so I don't think anyone is getting food posioning from this.

ITA. I wouldn't feel guilty at all, not even a little bit. There's no reason to take someone else's food. No reason at all.
Beth isn't force-feeding anyone her yogurt or cheese, someone is going in there and stealing as if it's a free-for-all. I say, let them have it!!

From a serious viewpoint ('cause I am all for fun, really), I would be concerned if the culprit was pregnant and the yogurt contained bad bacteria, like listeria.
