cameras. does anyone know anything
about them? i want the professional look of pictures.im sick of my regular digital. i have NO idea how to use a real camera with the huge lenses. and i dont want a big one. but i want the quality.can anyone tell me what would be the best one for me. im not a photographer but i need a camera that clicks fast and captures candids the way i want. ive seen them ranging from $400-$2000 and dont know what to look for.any suggestions?

yes you can upgrade your camera and get better shots but realistically i find over and over people just need to take classes or read books to really learn how to take better photos. There are lots of blogs for point and shoot cameras that really you can get amazing shots.
If you want a good beginner SLR i am only familiar with Nikon and over and over again everyone on here lists they are using D3000 and D5000 and some the D90.

i guess this is what i mean. i dont know anything  but what is a SLR? and do you know where you can take classes?

DH has the Nikon D80 and loves it! I just did a quick google search, and it looks like it now is around $1000. He got it a year or two ago for a really good deal at $500. I can't remember what website he went to for that price, but I know he did a lot of research on different cameras. The reason he chose Nikon was because he has a manual Nikon camera, and he found out the lenses he has for that one is interchangeable with the Nikon digital cameras. I know he was told by some photographers that D80 is a great camera for what he does (hobby photography only), and getting something more expensive/elaborate without being a pro is silly.
