Camp question
Dd's camp is in 2 week sessions. I have her going for 3 out of the 4 for the summer. Do I have to tip every session? or can I wait until the end of the summer?

I wait until the end.
There are a few occasions where a counselor is leaving, which they usually let the kids know.

I actually never heard of tipping until this board. I have had my kids in camp for many years and never tipped anyone---

IF you were to tip i would do it at the end of the year.
Personally, I never heard of tipping the camp counselors until this board either.
If we really liked them I would get them a small gift, just like i get her school teachers and dance teachers.

HHmmm.......I thought tipping counselors was a must, am I wrong? DH told me he never heard of it either, said I was crazy.

We tip camp counselors.. It is not a rule but expected....
I have no problems with it at all.

It seems everyone wants a tip (here in NY as this is not how it is out of state).
I have been using camp for 9 years and never heard of tipping until I read it on here-lol.
Do they tell you at the camp that you should tip? How would you know you should?

this is the first year i put dd in camp (she's 5) and when i got all her paperwork there was a section on tipping and it said that we would get "suggested" tip amounts at the end of the season.

My kids went and still go to town camp so maybe that is why.
I have never seen anyone tip or give gifts.

I always tip at the end of the last camp session. I was a camp councilor for many years and I always appreciated something nice from the parents on the last day. Plus my older kids went from 9-2 for 6 weeks with the town camp which was worth a million dollar tip to me!

My kids go to the town camp and I tip all the counsellors the last day. $20 each usually (x9) I don't mind it at all, they do so much.
