Re: HELP...My 4 month old will not take naps
My dd will only nap in her bounce seat or swing. Other thing you can do is take dc outside for walk.. the motion might help, plus 4m is still young so they wont get used to it.

Re: HELP...My 4 month old will not take naps
I never forced a nap on DD. We go about our day - shopping, walk in the park, whatever - and she would nap whenever she felt like it.
Still do that to this day. And she sleeps 12 hours straight through the night.

Re: HELP...My 4 month old will not take naps
My 2 month old is also a terrible napper. I put her in her car seat in the snap and go and turn on a static channel on the tv. Rock her back and forth and she's out within a few minutes.

Re: HELP...My 4 month old will not take naps
I was having a hard time getting DD to nap regularly, she is almost 5 months and about 5 weeks ago I started watching her cues. As soon as she started yawning or rubbing her eyes I started the nap process. If I miss the window I can't get her down. When I see the signals I change her diaper, nurse her until she is drowsy, sing a lullaby and then put her down. Now she is awake in the morning for about 2 hours and then naps for 2-3 hours. Sometimes she wakes up and wimpers a little during her nap. I have a 2 minute rule and I wait it out and usually she falls right back to sleep. I think it's the sounds of the day that might wake her a bit because she doesn't wake up like that at night.
After that long nap she usually takes 2 shorter naps, on mid to late afternoon and then one early evening. I'm working on getting her late day naps more regular like her morning nap.

Re: HELP...My 4 month old will not take naps
The only way DS will take a nap longer than 10 minutes is by putting him in his car seat
So, it works for now, but what are we going to do when he grows out of it???

I agree with everyone on here about the motion. You also might want to try a white noise machine---many babies find it soothing.
