Can a Crock Pot Go Bad?
Lately the recipes I've tried are terrible. Starting to wonder if it's my crockpot.

Re: Can a Crock Pot Go Bad?
I guess the heating mechanism can be faulty, which would over or under-cook stuff.
But honestly, even though I LOVE my crockpot and use it often, I find you have to be careful with crockpot recipes. Some of them make me gag-- full of disgusting canned soups, packets of artificial gravy mixes and ranch dressing mixes, etc. So much artificial stuff, chemicals, sodium, etc. Even though there are some awesome recipes in it, the Fix It and Forget It book has a LOT of this type of recipe. By the time you're done with all these fake foods, you might as well have just picked up McDonalds, lol.

Re: Can a Crock Pot Go Bad?
My crock pot is my mom's from seriously, the 70's or early 80's. It works so I continue to use it.
Anyways, I have to say I agree with the PP.
I've made some things that just didn't come out well at all, and I think it was just the recipe.

This, exactly. I rarely use my newish crock pot because I hate the canned/artifical ingedients that so many of the recipes call for.

I also hate when a recipe comes out just like a big glob of boiled meat.
I find that I do best with basic things, like BBQ pork and the like.
I've tried to make a few chicken recipes and it's often all water and ick by the time it's done.

Re: Can a Crock Pot Go Bad?
Not sure what you mean. If the food is cooked then its not the crock pot, its the ingredients you are using. Many crock pot recipes, in my opinion, are gross. They use canned soups and processed ingredients. Also not everything is meant to be made in a crock pot. I like mine for roasts and pretty much thats it. Everything eles i find comes out like mush.
