Can anyone recommend a white noise machine? Also
when did you stop using it. I still use the humidifer for DD (16 months) and I'm thinking I want a white noise machine for her in the summer and definitely for DS.

what is it?
like a radio type device that plays sounds or white noise. When babies are really little it helps them sleep. For my DD I use it to "block" out other noises like the TV or company, etc.

I use music now everynight but when he was little I would use a CD that had all household noises on it. It worked unbelievable for Andrew.

I have been using the Dex version from BRU- I think it was like 19.99 or something. I've been using it since DD was first born. It has 10 different sounds but we mostly use ocean, rain w thunder, brook sound.
It is battery or AC operated- we run it on batteries b/c we take it w/ us to my mom's, on vacation, etc.

Jodi, we bought a CD off Target.com that i still use till this day. I has a bunch of sounds. Maybe I can burn it for you and mail it. It has a vacuum and other great things. Let me know if you want it. We have an alarm clock/CD player in her room and play it every single night

I just bought this one last week since we are going to stop using the heater in his room. We all love this machine! DH fell asleep with DS for two hours last Sunday with the ocean sound on

Re: Can anyone recommend a white noise machine? Also
Just buy a cd and put a small cd player in the room and have it run on continous play. That is what I did when DD was a baby, eventually stopped and she was fine.

Re: Can anyone recommend a white noise machine? Also
I don't have a white noise machine. IMO i don't think you need to buy a machine when all you need is a radio and you just buy a white noise CD.
There are a gazillion CD's out there.
I have a white noise CD plus a CD that plays common noises around the house (washer, dryer, vacuum etc).

Re: Can anyone recommend a white noise machine? Also
not sure if its useful now, I know I used mine from the day we got home.
We have the slumber bear, http://www.target.com/Original-Slumber-Bear-Silkie-Beige/dp/B0006M1B0K/sr=1-1/qid=1208479016/ref=sr_1_1/601-9540899-3488118?ie=UTF8&rh=k%3Aslumber%20bear&page=1
OMG LOVE him!!! Whats really unique about him is that he has a sensor that when she starts to cry it goes off! So, even in the middle of the night when she gets up she goes right back to sleep.

Re: Can anyone recommend a white noise machine? Also
dds are almost 18 months, and I still use the humidifer. I have forced hot air, so it is dry in the house. for the spring/summer, i put it on a low setting. They also have classical music playing all the time. But i may stop that soon.

We just use the machine that came with his pack-n-play. It helps him about 85% of the time.
