Can grief cause contractions?

I am out of town and was supposed to see my friend who today I found out passed away. I've been pretty hysterical because it was completely unexpected and I am in his home town and supposed to visit him and meet his fiance. Now I am going to meet her tomorrow for the saddest reason ever.

I have been having a lot of contractions ever since I found out. Not painful, more like BH. I am almost 26 weeks...

Is this normal? I am scared because I am a 4 hour plane ride away from home. I am also afraid to say anything because the whole reason I didn't find out for 2 days was bc I am PG and she didn't want to upset me...Plus, she is in a lot more pain than I can imagine. I don't want to add any concern to this situation.

ETA: I am here for a meeting, not just to visit so I can hide all this crying and stuff pretty easily...

Oh, and did I mention my blood sugar was 200 for 5+ hours!

I am sorry for your sudden loss, Chat Icon

I would thnk that stress could cause you to experience BH... are you dehydrated too?

IN the morning I would phone your doctor - I always thnk its better to ask than to not.... but it really sounds "normal" to me.

I am 27 weeks and have been experiencing BH too - I think this is about the time they start up.

Update: they are farther apart but a bit stronger so I am trying to hydrate. With all the crying, I can definately be dehydrated...

I'm just hanging on until I get home tomorrow...

It could def be dehydration from crying... try to relax, put your feet up and drink lots of water.

Im very sorry for your loss. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
