I am decorating a cake for Andrew with Elmo on it. Can I decorate it tomorrow?

Will the frosting get hard and gross?

I know it is going to take me a long time to do that is why I rather do it tomorrow.

I don't see why not if you keep it cool and covered.

I'm pretty sure it'll be fine if you do it Friday.

Are you making the Elmo face? I want to do it for Anthony's party next week, but I'm afraid of how it will come out Chat Icon

It should be totally fine.

I eat cake the day after it's been iced all the time... It'll be fine!

I think it will be fine if you do it tomorrow. If you can do it later in the day.

I am planning on doing this one for Ali's birthday

I am so nervous about doing it

That's the one I was planning on doing (notice how I already say was Chat Icon ). I think I'll get so frustrated by it, and I don't need the stress. We'll see how much of the planning I get through this weekend, then I'll decide.

Allison, that Elmo cake is adorable!! Good luck making it Chat Icon

You were the one that got me started on it!!!

I am planning on doing a trial run.

To bad we didn't live closer - I could have tried my trial run this weekend and if it came out good, I would have given it to you to serve at Andrew's party!!

Yes you can. I decorated Nicholas' lion cake the day before his party. I covered it with foil and "tented" the foil in the middle so it wouldn't touch the frosting. It was moist and delicious the next day.
Good luck. Can't wait to see pics. Chat Icon

I did a Diego cake for my son and it took forever to decorate! O.M.G. After 2 hours, I just started winging it! And yes, you can do it the night before, I did and it tasted great! I used Wilton Decorator icing, not buttercream.

Yes you can, it will tkae a long time, don't do the stars too small, I did them too small and it took me forever to do 2 baseball cakes. Also, I would use two bags, and keep one in the fridge since holding the bags warms them up pretty quick.

Do you have to put it in the fridge? Could you put it in a cool room?
