Question about getting a lump removed from breast

I had my operation two weeks ago to have a lump removed. It came back negative, yay!
However, the incision is healing, but the area is soooo sore and sort of under and to the side of the incision (on the side of my breast), it is hard as if there is a lump or lumps there. This was my first surgery so I have no idea if this is normal. I went to the post-op visit and didn't see the dr., but a nurse practitioner. I hadn't touched the area at that point to even know it was hard because of it being saw. She said as long as the soreness is getting less each day, then it can take up to one year to be back to normal. Yikes!
What was your experience?

Re: Question about getting a lump removed from breast

I had one removed 5 years ago. Honestly, within 10 days I was fine. But i am a super fast healer. I recoved from my c-section fully within 2 weeks. Once I started breastfeeding however, that boob was definitely more sore.

I would go back to the doctor. It is probably nothing, but better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Question about getting a lump removed from breast

I haven't had lumps removed from my breast, but I had a pre-cancerous mole removed from my back and it was lumpy for a long time afterward. I think it has something to do with healing process and it's normal. I know they did the stitches "on the inside" that dissolve which I would think would add to the lumpiness in the beginning as well.

Hope you're feeling better soon! Chat Icon

ETA: I re-read and saw that you're really sore. I would call the office and ask if the level of pain you're experiencing is normal.
