Can I have some advice re: special toy and daycare
DD will start daycare on Friday. She will be going one day a week for approximately 6 hours.
She has two luvies that she never lets out of her sight. She is carrying them around as I type and they go everywhere with her.
I understand that I may have contributed to this dependency on her special toys - but I'm not sure if I should bring "monty and raffi" to daycare.
I'm so nervous that they might get lost or damaged at daycare (not that they are in great condition - she sucks on them all day long). But I'm also nervous about how she might react when they are not there. I'm nervous that she may be scared/upset at daycare and these are her comforts. She is supposed to take a nap at daycare and she always sleeps with them.
I know I should have started some sort of transition for her to be without them - but work started up again and honestly, I forgot. I dont want to burden the daycare people with a child who is screaming for her special toys - but then again, I dont want to burden the daycare people that they have to always make sure these toys are not lost too.
ANY advice would be appreciated. We're going to the daycare center today for 2 hours and I'm going to try and not bring them.
DD is 16 months.

i don't think they allow personal toys in daycare. maybe you can have in her backpack and explain to her that they are there so she can feel "safe"

Check with the daycare. I know in all of the daycares I've been in, the younger kids could bring a lovey/stuffed animal to sleep with during nap time.

My daycare says I can bring anything special to Ryan in and they'll keep it out of reach of the other babies.

I agree with everyone...check with daycare about the possibility of bringing something.
Lucas has a little puppy that he sleeps with at naptime. The teachers love that he has it because he cuddles with it and closes his eyes...never gives them a problem as long as he has it and happily puts it away when he wakes up.
I have three of these dolls - just in case. Anyway you can get a backup set of your DD's lovies?

Thanks so much for the advice - One of her lovies is from Uruguay and is from my sister's husband's mother (she lives in Montevideo) She's such a nice woman and has looked for a backup - but couldnt find any.
I found a backup of her other lovie - but she rejected it. Probably because it didnt smell like sour milk and her saliva.

Check w/the daycare. But, maybe buy a backup of each toy, send her w/that and see how she does. I wouldn't send her regular "security" toy.

Parker is allowed to have his special toys in his crib for naps. The other babies do not play with them.

Re: Can I have some advice re: special toy and daycare
Definitely check with the daycare tomorrow. For DS, we had a little bear he would have in his diaper bag that he could sleep with if he needed it. Now he doesn't bring anything with him. DS is 14 mos.
