I think that's a much better idea.
To be honest, I don't think we really need another board -- it will just lead to more x-posts (b/c that board won't get much traffic) and more people asking why their threads got moved.
Maybe it's just me, but the medical posts here don't bother me and I feel there are enough boards with too little traffic already.
ITA. I am one of the few who think we have too many boards.
I get very annoyed when my posts get moved. I think a lot of posts can be on numerous boards.

100% agree. I don't think the LIF Gods would have a problem with that!

WOW, i didn't think my post would get so many responses
Deb, the idea of putting Health along with Diet and Ftiness sounds like a good one. That way at least it's not a new board by itsdelf and it all ties in together.
So what do you think Ron??

This board can make a world of good for a few people and I wish people could see THAT rather than the selfish idea of it ever benefiting themselves.
if you don't like a specific board or it does not benefit you, don't go on it. there are a lot of people who are going through medical problems whether it be themselves, their SO or another family member and they just need to vent.
Kudos to you if you, your SO or family are perfectly healthy and do not have any medical issues. you are one lucky person if that's the case.

This very site was created as a place where families can reach out to other families. The entire concept is support. Support networks and even referrals on a "health" or "medical" board are one thing, but when people give medical advice it is a completely different story and it DOES happen. A disclaimer would be a must.
You would be surprised how many people put their faith in what they see on a message board before they will set one foot in a doctor's office. Diagnoses are made, treatment options are discussed and then people come back saying all is well - nothing to worry about. Meanwhile they are unnecessarily panic stricken.
And no doctors are not always right, but as patients, we also have the right to question them or seek second opinions.
ITA. I have seen people asking about prescription drugs (BCP, etc..) side effects etc... How to take medicine. Which one they should take. Even doctors, nurse praticioner will not give advise here unless it's in a general sense. While we are all well intended I think some people forget that most of us are not qualified to give a diagnostic.
I think the combination of "health" vs "medical" could be added to either the diet/fitness board or fashion/beauty board.
ETA: I think it would a great idea for people looking for dr or more info on a topic. Some posters have health issues and maybe someone could guide them on where to find info about it.

I wasn't saying it would never benefit me, but it's another board I think would cause unneccesary xposting & complaints over moving posts & eventually languish like others.
Maybe if you could explain how posting would work, I could get a better understanding why another board is necessary?
when a parent is asking for advice re: doctors, colds, ear infections, immunizations on the parenting board, would the post be moved to "Health" or "Medical"? It seems to me that it would - or at least should.
Would all of the medical questions, referrals, drug questions be moved from infertility to the board?
What about the medical questions, etc on TTC & Pregnancy?
or will everthing be XPosted to those boards?
I don't see the need for a new board to offer support for medical issues. For me it seems that between NFR, Bereavement, Inferitility, TTC, Pregnancy & Parenting boards. Yes, granted I am one lucky person in terms of health, but no matter where the post is, from what I've seen there is no shortage of support here.

Re: Can I request a new forum board???
Not a fan of the idea.
Posted by DebG After all, this board isn't ALL about drama, gossip or talking about the latest fashion. COMMUNITY and helping someone in your community talk thru something that could potentially be very difficult means everything.
It's exactly for this reason that I don't think it should be it's own board.
If you move this kind of stuff off of NFR, I feel like that's exactly what we would be losing.
I want to read Deb's medical updates HERE, where we ALL 'hang out'... as a supportive community. I don't see a need to separate it. I want to see a Freddy update on the first page.
Boring as it may sound to others, I want to read about EVERYONE's wisdom teeth being pulled experiences because I'm TERRIFIED of getting mine done.
I didn't know what the heck fibromyalgia was until the other day.
And missrock...
Call me lazy to not want to check another board, but it's one more thing I now know about a member of our community that I wouldn't have known if it was on another board.
All of those things would be moved... if you keep taking topics away from the "main" board (well, a topic of substance, like this), you are separating the community little by little instead of uniting it, IMO.
