Can one really walk in shoes like this?
Legit question. I am on a buy and sell fb board for designer clothes and shoes. These CL shoes just popped up in my newsfeed for sale. The heels are over 6 inches, fine, but those platforms just look ridiculous.
Are shoes like this actually worn? Or just for the bedroom and/or photoshoots?
I really am puzzled by this. I rock heels ALL the time-I do not own a pair of flats, no joke But my limit is about 4 inches. Mainly due to my height, but also because I find anything much higher puts my foot in a painful position and I can barely walk. I can't imagine it's good for the health of your foot to keep it in a position like that over time, the bunions must be insane down the road!
Anyway, does anyone here actually WEAR a shoe like this for longer than like 5 minutes? Can you walk without breaking your neck and deforming your foot? I have always been curious about this!

I don't think these are meant for walking.
I do think they're absolutely hideous, regardless of their purpose!

I think they are meant for show. I.e. Huge closets with lots of fancy shoes, for use in the bedroom, and for model photo shoots.

Re: Can one really walk in shoes like this?
I wonder what it's like to have the kind of money to spend over $1K (the retail price of these shoes) on a pair of shoes you can't even wear.

Re: Can one really walk in shoes like this?
I can walk in them no problem. I love high heels and am comfortable in them.
I could run track in high heels.
BUT *those* aren't really my style that high bc I'm already 5'7'' and I would be like almost 6'2'' in them!!! Being that the mans is only 5'11'' that wouldn't work hahahaha. And being that if I put those on while getting ready in my room we would never make it out of the bedroom to leave the house - that would be the other issue. He's a sucker for shoes like that LOL. They allllll are.

The 6 + inch heels are one thing- those ridiculous platforms coupled with them are another. I mean - really?

I could never walk in them (nor would I ever try). But I think maybe the platform would make it easier? Like if they're six inch heels, but the platform is two inches, it's more like a four inch heel?

this is what I was going to say you need the high platform to cancel out the exteme highness of the heels so its like wearing a 4 inch heel

I'm 6'1" and most of my heels are 4"+. DH is 5'10" on a good day. 4 kids later, it's safe to say he's cool with me towering over him.

Yes. The platforms make it easier to walk in.
I agree. I can't wear most heels but the platform helps. They are a shock absorber and really, the heel height from the top of the platform to the top of the heel isn't bad compared to the height of heels that do not have platforms. The angle for the foot isn't different.
Unfortunately, I have learned the hard way that once you are spending about $150 on a pair of shoes, the rest of the price increase for higher end shoes does not make them more comfortable. I know better than to try on $50 high heels because those will never work but I may have more luck at $150 than I do at $1,000.

Re: Can one really walk in shoes like this?
I want back to my college sorority 25th reunion a few months ago and those girls were wearing those kind of shoes. They were so drunk that when they fell, they bounced right back up.
I had my friend with me who never did this scene and she thanked me for now she's never sending her daughter away to college.
(And yes I know that's a different thread!!)
We also had a conversation about how they were able to afford their shoes as quite a few were wearing designer heels.

Re: Can one really walk in shoes like this?
Those are hideous. They look like cheap
I love designer shoes - I LOVE the way CLs make your feet and legs look, but as someone who wears at least a 4" heel every day - I find CLs horribly uncomfortable. They take too much effort to walk in - When I'm wearing a 4-5" heel I want to still be able to walk like I'm wearing sneakers. Can't do that in CLs.
I have worn 5.5" heels and if the platform is right (and covered b/c IMO if it's not you look like a stripper I don't care HOW much you spent or who's name is on the box) or the shoe is made correctly, you can easily walk in them, and they can be comfortable. - Not run down the street comfortable, but stilleto heel comfortable.

Re: Can one really walk in shoes like this?
My issue with platforms is I feel very off balance in a platform. Almost like my foot is on a ball or something- like it's rolling in the front.
I find platforms to be even harder to walk in then straight heels.

I agree - I think a small (1/2 in or less) platform helps with the comfort of a shoe over a LONG period of time - but I find a thick platform to be very uncomfortable and it throws me off to walk in

Same.
Those shoes intrigue me, lol... It almost looks like they wouldn't flex easily so you would not so much walk as you would stomp around? But again, I wouldn't know. Aside from the fact that these feet would NEVER be lucky enough to even try on a pair of $1,000+ shoes, lol, if they were... I would be like a pp and look like a deer trying to gain footing. I can't even see myself getting in the upright position - forget even attempting to walk!
