Can someone explain something to me - economy related
I feel dumb this morning. If every single DOW type thing in a lot of countries keep dropping like hundreds of points because of fears of a recessions... why do people keep taking their money out. the stocks have been so battered right now if I took my money out of my IRA I would have lost a lot of money. Why do they keep blaming recession fears for the drops? Why not keep the money where it is and bring a turn around quicker?? Fear mongering is all I think it is. Can someone explain this to me??

It's emotional selling for a lot of small investors and for some of the institutional, they are doing option strategies and whatnot.

Because people just want to protect THEIR money ( not saying this is wrong ) SO they freak and pull their money out which means that
a. they will NEVER get that money back and they didnt really understand the market to begin with and
b. the market will continue to tumble
If people just wait it out ( besides people who are very close to retirement or whatever they are investing for ) then yes, the market would recover faster AND after some time, the people investing will benefit from the market rising again.

I know the "Experts" say we aren't in a recession but HAAA I don't believe them
