When we got married, we decided to have programs (which is not terribly common at Jewish weddings) to explain our traditions to our non-Jewish guests. We received many comments of appreciation and thanks because so many of our guests had never been to a Jewish wedding before.
oooh I love that you did that!
I'm Catholic but I've always admired Jewish traditions - the wedding traditions always move me to tears. I went to Catholic school and we did an exchange with a local synagogue- we had a seder with them, and they came to our church, went to mass (not public, just for school) and learned about Lent and our traditions as well. That is one of my best memories of my Catholic school days (and I will always remember the day that they visited our church, I went home VERY sick. TMI? )
I actually attended a seder years ago with the family I babysat for when I went to college in Boston...they invited me as a guest and I just loved it!
I was about the showing of the movie as well....

Re: Can someone PLEASE explain why ABC airs the Ten Commandments at Easter.....?
If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.
A few things, Passover and Easter are both based on a lunar calendar, however the way its calculated is different (I think it has something to do with the leap month on the Jewish calendar). So theoretically holy week "Should" be Passover week. If Christians were setting the dates for passover, it would be the same week as Holy Week, but obviously we aren't the ones who decide that.
A few other things... our Mass, and our religion are deeply rooted in the passover story. Especially when you think of what happens during the Easter Vigil mass as many people mentioned.
Just as the Jews passed through water from slavery into freedom, so do Christians pass through (baptismal) water from slavery (sin) into freedom (from sin).
As the Jews followed a pillar of fire to their ultimate salvation, at the Easter Vigil, we follow the Easter Candle into the darkened church.
Jesus saved us from death by shedding his blood, just as the lamb's blood in the passover story.
Our story as Christians IS the Passover story. Christ is our Passover and we relive both the seder and the paschal sacrifice at every mass.

Thanks. Your explanation helps too. But I can see it making MUCH more sense to Christians than to Jews who do not read New Testament Scriptures.
I love how I am still learning from this.

It wouldn't make sense for Jews, because it's being played for Christians.
if they played it during passover in a year like this when they are separated, most people would be saying "Why the heck are they playing this? It's not Easter!"
