Can the doctor tell....
if you're about to O? I just made an appt for NYE (doctor wanted to see my back in Jan to see how things were going--close enough). If AF shows up on time this month, I'll be CD19 by then--I've been O'ing on CD20 or 21 and get a pos OPK on CD19. So will the doctor be able to tell? Do you need a sonogram to be sure?

I'm not sure really. I know some women detect when they are o-ing by the feel of their cervix, so maybe your doctor would be able to tell that way.

the dr can tell when you are about to ovulate based on blood work (your hormone levels) and also by doing a sonogram to see the follicles. i'm not sure if there are other ways for them to tell.

Re: Can the doctor tell....
Thanks! I would love to know for sure since I don't temp. I'm not exactly sure what the point of the visit is, whether it's just a checkup or blood work. I went to see him in August (went off pill in May) and at that point, based on my cycle lengths and CM, he didn't think I was O'ing. He told me to come back in Jan if I wasn't pregnant yet. I'm pretty sure I started O'ing as of September--and now have a cycle within the "normal" range.

Re: Can the doctor tell....
They can tell by an internal sonogram. They measure the size of any and all follicles that you have and they can determine if any look mature enough to be released. If you have a mature follicle(s) they can give you a trigger shot to ensure the egg releases and you ovulate. That is what I did the month I got pregnant with my DD. Less than 24hrs. after the trigger shot I also had an IUI.
