Can The EXPERIENCED Mommies Please Help Me...Bathtub Related
Hi,
MY DD is almost 8 MOS. Up until now we had her bathing in a tub in the sink. She is a big baby and ready to move on to our bathroom tub. I bought her the seat that suction cups and she sits up in it.
Questions:
1) How do you get her head back enough to pour the cup of water on her head without getting it in her eyes? (in the other tub she was laying so it was easy to tilt her head back)
2) Sorry TMI---but how do you get "between her legs and "toosh" area when she is sitting? I couldn't sponge her there and had to wait until I took her out to work on that area. What am I doing wrong?
By the way...I bought the knee stooler that came with the arm rest, the arm rest stinks, it keep falling off.
How do your backs take this type of bathing ladies? Mine was killing me! I found this all SO stressful just now! Is this normal?
Thanks a bunch!
Keri

First of all, it KILLS your back, no way around it. Right now I sit on DD potty but it still is tough. Secondly, we never used a bath ring or anything other than a huge bath cushion(when they couldn't sit up). Once they could sit up I just put them in the tub without anything- it's much easier to clean them that way. I just tip my DD head back to clean the soap out and we use a plastic cup. It does get a little easier with practice! Or you could do what I did- convince your DH that its his job!

Re: Can The EXPERIENCED Mommies Please Help Me...Bathtub Related
I have a really bad back..so I literally put my feet in the tub with her and bend over that. My bathroom is TINY and my back couldnt take leaning over that way. This works the best for us.
We started bathing her in the tub around 10 months. She would just sit up..I would stand her up and hold her to get her "privates" and for her hair I bought one of those bucket type things from babies r us. When she got a little older, I just tipped her over my arm and held her hair under the faucet.
Now that shes almost 3..she HATES rinsing her hair no matter what, so its just a daily battle. She screams no matter what I try so I just try to get it done FAST! We never used cushions or rings..there just wasnt enough room in my bathroom for that type of stuff anyway.

I got one of the blow up tubs from BBB that I put into my big bathtub. I was petrified of her tilting over and hitting her head so I kept her in this thing until she was almost 2! It did work well though because I could lie her down and rest her head/neck on the back of the thing to rinse her hair and to gain access to her underneath for cleaning.

My DS sits well enough so we just sit him in the tub. When it's time to clean his tush & such I let him stand & hold the edge of the tub, then I rinse hin off like that as the water is draining.
DH also just installed one of those shower heads with the hose so rinsing is SO easy now!!

OMG brilliant idea!!!! thank you. DS is thin, but tall... soon he'll have to transfer to the big tub and I'm dreading that day... mainly becuase of the back and knees (knees are worse than back). That is a wonderful solution....

I have a bad back too, so I sit on a stepstool outside the tub. I like the blow up tub alot for my first one. But it did not work so well when I stuck my second baby in with my first so she basically just learned to sit right in the tub. My dd hated the tub so much that I bought her one of those visors for hair rinsing. I put it on and just pour the water over her head, no head tilt. Then I take a big cup and do back and sides of her hair. Since hat, she loves the tub.

I bathed DD in the kitchen sink after she didn't fit in the baby tub anymore. At my old house, the tub in the bathroom had the shower doors, so when I would lean over, I would get the rails right in the boobs. When she was too big for the sink, I sat on the the edge of the tub, with my feet in the water and did it that way.

We just removed the shower doors and put up a curtain because of this

You can use the seat with the suctuon cups in the kitchen sink. It's fairly easy to hold the baby while they lean back,. You can also get in the tub and take a bath with them.

I just kneel next to the tub to bathe her. It's a pain sometimes....but it's pretty quick, so it's not too bad. Once she could sit up well enough on her own, she was in the tub with nothing but a bath mat (Elmo, of course!) I pour the water right over her head. I try to get her to tilt it back, but she refuses, so she gets the water in her face also. She's fine with it though. And to get her private area....I just have her sit there, and I use a washcloth to get in there.
