Can we talk cloth diapers - just curious!

For those who did it, can you tell me the 101 on clothe diapers?

I am just curious.

Does it leak?
How do you clean poopie diapers?
Did you save $$$$?

After doing it, would you recommend it? Would you do it again?

TIA

Re: Can we talk cloth diapers - just curious!

I am a cloth mommy - i have been doing for a little over a year

the cloth leaks so much less then disposables - we had not poops up the back and my little guy was bf and only pooped once a week - it is much easier then i thought

poop is easy when they are on formula/BM - just throw in wash - but now that he is on food i use liners because i send him to daycare - if he was home full time i would use a sprayer or spatula - just dump the liner in gfarbage or toilet bowl if poop

i haven't added up what i spent but i think it is cheaper but i do buy alot of the more expensive all in ones but i can use them for a second child

I rarely have a leak---granted you have to change diapers more often then perhaps with a disposable, but not a ton more. They make diaper sprayers to help spray off the poop, but before we started solids I EBF and it's all water soluble so you just put it thru the wash. I can definitely say I have saved money--I bought diapers for my older son that I now use for my younger one, if you take care of them they hold up great. I also really think it helped to potty train sooner as he was very aware of when he was wet vs in a disposable it's harder for them to tell. And yes, I am cloth diapering my 2nd so I can tell you I would do it again.

Re: Can we talk cloth diapers - just curious!

never leak, but i do change her often

she is 9 mos old.
started out 132.00 investment.
since then have spent 19.00 on disposables.
trying to stay under 200.00 for the year.

poop-it is sooooo nothing.
most people, even ped, asks what do i do with the poop.

it is literally 2 minutes out of my life each day.
as a breastfed baby, i just threw them in washer.

now, she mainly goes on toilet, if not, it goes in diaper, i take it to bathroom, have a spatula that i use to scrape it. then in wash.

do it again?
yes, and I judge those who don't give it a whirlChat Icon

only because you asked...josh was not in cloth. he has a huge pile of diapers on this earth for atleast the next 200 years with his name on it.
i love the fact that is not the case with jessie.

it isn't fair, it isn't right. we share a planet..animals, plants, people. all the resources used in making disposables...
also...what kind of chemicals are on their little parts? what causes chemical burns in dry max? what are those gel crystals made of that allows a kid to piss himself all day long and not feel a thing?

Nevermind me...I have to brainwash myself into this kind of lifestyle!Chat Icon
