What did the ped say when they saw the poop?
It might just look like that becasue she was backed up. I"m sure it will go back to normal. DS' poop usually looks like that after he's gone a day w/o pooping.

green is ok for newborns.... don't worry. the main thing I think at this point is to try to keep track of how much she eats... your ped likely has a minimum amount (s)he wants her to consume each day, and a minimum # of pee diapers.... (usually 8-12 pee diapers a day)

Re: Can we talk newborn poop ... im alittle nervous....
Each baby is different..
But AJ is almost 4months and we haven’t seen a full yellow poop. Hers are always a dark army green. I do have seedy yellow bits and sometimes she has a few bits of yellow poo in there but mostly its green, dark green. Its also never really ‘solid’ as hard as it got was sort of like a super soft rubber mass. It didn’t break up easily but was still super dark green.
I would have worried too at three days no poop. But AJ does go about 2 full days without a movement and so far doc says its alright as long as she’s eating well. By the way, at least my AJ, always-ALWAYS sleeps during her feeds. When she was a newborn she’d literally shut her eyes the moment she had a boob or later the bottle (I had to quit BF). Doc says she’s not asleep unless she stops eating and sleeps.. but sleeping while still suckling was ok.
HTH
Good Luck

Re: Can we talk newborn poop ... im alittle nervous....
Same here!!! DS's were ALWAYS tarry and green, and he only went 1xday MAX we had numerous 2-3 day stretches with no poop diapers. Even now at a little over 3 months they're still quite a dark green, sometimes topped off with a bit of yellow seedy poop. Blech I just ate lunch this is gross.
But he's gaining weight, eating well, and lots of wet diapers, so everything seems fine!!!

Im glad you posted this! DS hasnt pooped in almost 24 hours and I was freaking out. He has had a lot of pee diapers, just no BM. He is eating well so I want too concerned.

Re: Can we talk newborn poop ... im alittle nervous....
DD recently went like 4 days with no poop. I experienced the same thing with DS when he was her age so i know not to worry. Just a get a thermometer and some vaseline and gently massage that area. They should poop a load within an hour or two. It works for DD all the time.

Maddie only did those mustard poops a few times in the beginning.. once she was regularly formula fed, they turned that dark green color- it's normal.

Yes, the good 'ole thermometer trick- works like a charm!
Did it to my daughter too!
